BFP 7/1/08, Lovenox self injections daily.

I just got my BFP on Tuesday. I called to Dr. and because I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome, I was started on daily self injections of Lovenox to keep my blood thin enough to carry. I miscarried one year ago last month because we didn't know yet. I have had Systemic Lupus for 8 years now as well so I am also taking plaquenil to supress my immune system. I really need to find someone to relate to because I am so nervous. Anyone out there? Denni

Hi Denni, You do have a friend. I've also been disgnosed with anticardiolipin and antiphospholipid antibodies and I'm 8 weeks pregnant. From the time I missed my period I was on Clexane daily injections, steroids and aspirin tablets. I thought I couldnt do it but as the days go by it gets easier. Plus Ive learned to numb the area with ise to take away the pain. How far are you? Let's keep each othe posted. I too my self have miscarried and didnt know why either. Liza

Thanks so much for those words its amazing what hearing similar experiences will do for your moral. Today will only be my third time with the shot. Its really not that bad but it is really mentally abusive because all I don't feel like this is a pregnancy, I feel like its a medical experiment. I'm sure those feelings will change as time goes by. I'm excited, but very nervous. I definately want to keep in touch!

    Re: Anticardiolipin & Antiphospholipid Antibodies

I was also disgnosed a few months ago with anticardiolipin and antiphospholipid antibodies and I'm now 21 weeks pregnant *yay* Previously I had 7 miscarriages and I have had one live birth with my son who will be 18 at the end of October 2008 - hence the large gap. I have never been offered tests nor investigated by the hospital until this pregnancy but the new specialist I am under has been great and they are doing as much as possible to reassure me. They tested me without telling me so that I didn't worry about the results and I am now taking Clexane daily and injecting myself and also taking aspirin tablets. I too thought I wouldn't be able to do it but now it is second nature to do so. Not sure where you ladies inject but because of my history I am injecting in my leg and not my stomach. I am also suffering with high blood pressure so have been told by the consultant that I will probably be induced early because of my situation. I will keep you all updated as to how this pregnancy goes * hugs to you all *

Hi Pearly Lizzy, Just found the message. Congrats on your pregnancy. I only have 16 more days to use the Clexane. Then I gradually come off of the Steroids. Everything is going well. God is good. Let me know how its going throughout your pregnancy. Lisa

Aw, congrats on your good news! I just got a BFP on Sat 7/12 and head in Wednesday to start lovenox. I am factor v leiden positive, a blood clotting disorder, so it sounds like something different, but still have to do the same shots. I'm super nervous about it, but I'm trying to pump myself up and tell myself this is good for the baby. Do the shots get easier?

Wow so many on Lovenox now... I am on my second go around with lovenox.. I had 7 ms did alot of testing and found out I have a blood clotting disorder G20210A.. very very rare.. Last Pregnancy went great... my daughter is now 15 months old... but i had nobody to relate to because nobody was on the injections... now there are so many!! I am 38 weeks prego with baby number two, another girl YAY!! (well as I am sure for all of you- doesnt matter what your having as long as you are goign to have one LOL) Any as far as the shots go, I used to be so scared of the needle but now I am used to it and just do it.. but you can try for those of you that are not liking the pain... Ambisol, its a topical number... for me I am injecting in my tummy.. so about an inch below my belly botton and 2 or 3 to the right of left seems to be the least sensative spot... I am currently on Heparin so taking 2 a day... they burn more than the Lovenox but 2 weeks to go..

I also felt like an experiment the first time around.. probably because i was the only one.. I think there was one other gal.. but now I dont because it is more and more common... good luck to all

Just to update you all : ) I am now 31 weeks and still plodding along with these injections. The worst thing I have found over the past few weeks is the bruising and the hardness under the skin which is a pain when you come to add another shot in the leg. I still won't do it via my tummy as I am scared I will have problems even at this late stage. I have only gained 11 lbs so far which is great and I have to continue with these injections until 6 weeks after I have him too. Went for the USS on Wednesday and everything looks fine even though he is a long baby and can kick for England lol.. so just waiting to meet him now.. Hope you are all keeping well and that everyone continues to have happy pregnancies and keep smiling we will soon have our bodies back and a brand new baby will be so worth it : )

Re: BFP 7/1/08, Lovenox self injections daily. (Clexane)

I am now just over 35 weeks and I am off to the hospital this morning. I went for a growth scan last week on Wednesday and they said the babies stomach was off the chart so they think he has diabetes : ( So I am going for a GTT test today and should get the results back by Tuesday and then will see what the hospital propose to do. I am still on Cleaxane and I have still only gained 14lb in total since becoming pregnant. Just popped out of wearing my 'own' clothes and fit into my maternity now. Anyway hope all of you are doing well with your pregnancies, take care all and catch up soon x

Re: BFP 7/1/08, Lovenox self injections daily. (Clexane)

Hi Pearly Lizzy, Havent been online in a while. I will definitely be praying for you and your soon to born baby. I came off of the Clexane and the steroids from week 12. Doctors order, but I'm still on the aspirin. Things are going well so far. I just get a little frustrated with the constant bathroom visits but thats a part of it. Havent put on much weight yet either. Take care and God Bless. Lisa
