Re: couple extra britax questions...
I love my Marathon so I always highly recommend it. As for buying a used one, I'm leary of that because you don't know if it was in an accident or not and you just don't know how it was treated.

Re: couple extra britax questions...
A new cover would be a good idea on a used one if you knew the person that used it and the entire history of the carseat. If you don't then something could be really wrong with it and it would not be as safe. I know new ones are really expensive but isn't your child's safety worth it. I know I am going to be doing everything I can to get him a new Britax Marathon money is tight right now but that does not compare to my son's safety

Re: couple extra britax questions...
Go to britaxusa.com and they do some awesome comparisons there to help you decide what you might want next. We are going with the boulevard becacuse of the true side impact but I would also use a marathon. Both go up to 65 lbs so you can use it for quite awhile. About buying one used, like the PP said I would be leary since you don't know the background. Also carseats expire in six years so if you buy a used one you won't get as long of use out of it and probably won't be able to use it for the next baby (which we know is coming!)

VERY TRUE! I didn't even think about them expiring! My friend was wanting to sell her but, it is a few years old so, good point! Thanks for the advice!

Hey! I'm not trying to highjack your post, but you made me think of a question about these convertible seats. How can you keep a child rear facing if their legs are already hanging over the carrier??? Erin is extremely long. Would it still be safe if their legs are all scrunched up? I have no clue b/c most of my family and friends just put their kids forward facing when they transitioned from carrier to carseat.

You just cross them or tuck them up on the seat.

Good question, and one of the first things most people think of. Like Laura said they just cross them or scrunch them and don't mind. If you get a chance to read my post on ERF, I know it's long but worth it, the part I copied and pasted explains about the legs as do some of the links on there. None of my childcare kids or niece and nephew have ever complained about not having room. In fact, I know of more kids that complain when they finally do get turned around because their legs tend to just hang then with no support and they fall asleep easily.

You are right...it is VERY worth it but, if you can't find the extra money then ya can't, ya know? I'm hoping to ask for donations for christmas instead of gifts for myself or hubby but, with another on the way things are extra extra extra tight! I want him to have the best but, sometimes certain situations get in your way!
No I totally understand I am going to have to pull every last spare penny we have when I go to buy Kiegan a new seat I know about that extra extra tight thing goes DH and I just bought a home and we wanted Kiegan to have a great first Christmas (yes even though he won't remember it) but I think we are going to have to settle for and ok Christmas. I was totally not suggesting that you did not want your baby to be safe by any means I know on this board that we all want our babies to be as safe as possible and if I made you feel bad I am sorry sometimes things don't come out the way I intend them too ya know what I mean?

Re: couple extra britax questions...
Maybe you could ask for family to pitch in together and get a carseat for your little guy instead of a bunch of little gifts from everyone? I don't know if your family would do that but it might be an idea since money is tight.

That is a good idea! I might even ask my family to do that instead of getting him a bunch of toys he wont hardly get any use out of
