Making Baby Food

Homemade baby food undergoes less processing and is therefore more nutritious, better-tasting, and less expensive than store-bought, jarred foods. Share information, recipes, and tips with other parents on this board who are committed to or interested in making their baby’s food.

    How to do it?

I've been thinking about making my own baby food since allergies are so bad in my family and I've got no idea what to do.

How do you go about making baby food? Do you just put it in a food processor? If it's something thick like bananas how do you make it thinner? Do you come up with your own flavors or just mimic the ones in the store?

Any help or resources would be appreciated.

Ive done it a couple times.. I cooked some frozen vegies the normal way, then just pureed them.. as for bananas, add a little bit of water or breast/formular milk until you get the consitency you want.

Wait until the banans are really ripe, when the peels are just about black.  then they are mushy and easier to mash with a fork.  If you can't wait that long, freeze them for a couple hours then thaw them and they'll be softer.  My dd would never eat banans but my ds loves them.  The only difference is I was using yellow ones before and I use black ones now.  (peel color, that is)

Really? Well I guess that makes sense. I never eat bananas unless they're peels are very green. They're hard then. I guess it's only logical that bananas with black peels would be mushy!

    Thanks for the tip!
