Preemies

According to the March of Dimes, half a million babies are born prematurely each year (approximately 10 percent of all pregnancies). Premature infants have many special needs that make their care different from that of full-term infants. Join this board and connect with other parents of premature babies to share advice, tips, and support.

My story...My dec baby came in Sept!!!

Not very many people here...or maybe nobody...Here is my stroy: So I have been MIA for a while...On Sept 10th we welcomed our dec baby...2lbs 4oz 14in long....we were camping over labor day (6hrs from home) and I started to bleed...with in seconds i had blood to my knees...we went to the hospital...Which was the scariest hospital I have ever been in, I was more worried that the drunk doctor would drop his dentures on me....so he did the exam and I was not dialated he could not figure out why I had been bleeding and they did not have ultra sound on the weekends so he decided to life flight me to another town (3hrs if you drove away) when I got there I was dialated to a 1.5 and 80%...they started to give me meds to stop my contractions which were working....after being in this hospital for a couple days they decided that they would rather me be in a hospital close to home and the doc said that he was positive that I would deliver that week and he would rather fly me with the baby inside that the baby by herself...so I flew once again (6hrs from home if you drove). When I got there they stopped the meds that I was on cuz they found a mass that was behind my placenta and they said that the meds that I was on was stopping the blood flow, they did not know what this mass was just that if I had to deliver there was a hight chance I would need a transfusion....after being in the hospital for a couple days and really no change...they were going to send me home, but before they did they wanted me to go for a non stress test...while doing that I was haing contractions every 1-3min and they hurt, the doc came in and I was dialated to a 4 so they decided to keep a close eye on me. I seriously just sent a text to everyone to let them know I was ok the nurse came in to give me pain pills and all of a sudden 6 nurses and 4 doc came in and said we are taking you in for an eme c-section. When they wheeled me out of the room all I saw was all the white coats it was all the high risk docs and the NICU docs. After my c-section I was greeted by my husband they said that my placenta had torn 50%....so going foward we are now 19days since she was born and she is doing well....her 1st week she had some hard times...they found out she had a level 4 bleed in her head and they are 80% sure that she will have some diability but dont know what or the extent of it....she is now above birth weight 2lbs 8oz she did get down to 2lbs 1oz....sorry I have been gone but my mind has been

Wow! That sounds really scary! I'm am glad to hear that you and your daughter are doing well.

I'm not a premie mom, but I know how scary it can be to have someone you love have a disabilty. I hope that it's not the case for you and your LO.

Congratulations on your new little one!  I have 3 micropreemies.  My daughter was born at 28 weeks and will be 4 years old next month.  I also have twin boys that were born at 24 weeks and just turned 1 on Tuesday.

How is she now?  A level IV bleed is pretty serious and it typically causes cerebral palsy.  I have a cousin with CP and he's pretty independent at 30 years old.  He's even able to live on his own.
