Vaccinations

  Autumn-AnD-Audrie Joined on 05-05-2004 Southeast, OHIO Posts 20	Vaccinations Reply Contact I've decided not to get the shots for my 2nd daughter, who is a month old now.  I read up on it and it just seems like the right choice.  I am a little worried about the illnesses she can get though.  Do any of you have young children who were not vaccinated who are perfectly healthy?

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact My dd is only 8mo and we are not vaccinating either.  I wish I had some scientific information to throw at you about the risks of the diseases but I don't.  My suggestion to you is to do the research on these different illnesses so you can better know how to prevent them or recognize them if your child does end up getting any.  I personally don't believe that vaccinations fully protect a child from getting these illnesses anyway, so even those who do vax should do the same.

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact My twins are 8 months old and my next oldest is 4 years old and they haven't had vaccinations. I think the 4 yo had measles at 2 yo and it was very mild. I stopped vaccinating the next oldest at 1 year and she is my healthiest. the biggest vax they get now is for Hepatitis B, which is an adult disease.   Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact I have mixed feelingson this.. which is weird bc I work in for a large pharm company with the vaccine depart!!! hahaha so i make sure the vax's are made correctly... well one specifically. Anyway, since I will not be home schooling, I go ahead and vaccinate with all necessary vaccines. Even if I did homeschool, there would be some vaccines I would definitely get anyway. I skip all the optional ones since I just don't feel right about it. I will consider gardasil when my girls are old enough... just 16months and d3 yrs old. I think more research will be out on that in the next 10 years and I think the pros defnitely outweigh the cons on that one.

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact I've been hesitant about this too. My DD was born 2 months early at 2lbs 15oz and I let the nurses and docs bully me into vaxing her. Last time she had a fever for almost four days and was fussy, clingy, and overall net very happy. We're coming up on a year now and I'm debating weather or not to continue with the vaxes. She still nurses so she has some protection, though my pediatrician tried to scare me into giving her the flu vax by telling me that the flu can kill at this age. Yeah, great, it can at my age too. As can the vax! So I'm not too pleased about this. If anyone has more information or advice I'd appreciate it too.

Remember to keep your children's immune systems working well by allowing them plenty of sleep, good foods (organic and natural if you can), and lots of sunshine. The best immune system is one not compromised by vaccines (which are immuno-suppresants). I stopped vaccinating when my 3rd was 6 months. My dd never got past the 12 month shots. I was never comfortable with them and always felt "bullied" into doing it (even my premature DS on day 1 was given the Hep B vax! I was too weak :( All of my children are healthy and doing well!

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact My oldest was vaccinated through 18 months - he has sensory integration disorder that effects his hearing and smelling.. He had about 8 ear infections from birth until 2 years. My daughter was vaccinated through 2 months - she is "normal" other than a severe speech delay (but she was also a preemie). She has had 3 ear infections My son Alex was not vaccinated at all and he has never had ANY illnesses other than a few colds and 1 stomach bug that everyone in the house got. Hes never had anything else at all.. just fussiness when teething and that sort of thing We wont be vaccinating the new baby either

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact I lurk her often but have posted only once long ago: Anywho...I always felt "wrong" inside about my son getting vaccines.  I finally did my research (for what little is out there) and decided that my ds would get no more...at least until he is two (and even then I will be very selective if Ilet any).  I was very nervous for the response from our doc but am sooo happy we made this decision.  I give it 5 years before they make the "scientific" correlation between vaccines and nuerological disorders (if the big pharm corps allow it)...okay enough of my ranting.  I am proud of all of us for sticking up for what we believe in.  Good job mommas!

Lauderdale, FL - Gianna Catalina April 3, 2007 Posts 1,733	Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact I rarely post here, I am always lurking thoug, but I just wanted to say, we decided not to vaccinate at all...for now...and my dd is very healthy, and has only had one cold, which only lasted a few days.  She is 8 months old now.  I think the most important thing to do is keep your child healthy, and boost their immune system, breastfeeding is one of the best ways!

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact My son has had all his vaccinations, he is almost 11 months old.  He is very healthy active little boy, he was very active even when he was a baby baby.  I have heard both sides of the issue but I made my decision because of personal experiences.  I use to be a nursing student and had some patients that where sick with the diseases that has a vaccination for and they were very sick.  As a parent, I couldn't watch it if it happen to my son.  My dh ex-brother in law was never vaccinated and got mumps and was one of the unfortunate people who now can't have children due to that.  That is why dh said he had to be vaccinated. I also don't normally post here but I wanted the other side to be repersented too, vaccinations may or may not cause illnesses.  I also want to say that I worked in a daycare and one of the children there didn't have vaccinations, it wasn't an issue the school doesn't ask for records, and he got protestes (sp) which is whooping cough.  The desease is very contagious but he is the only one who came down with it, the rest of the kids were vaccinated for it.

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact My DD is 2 and I have not vaccinated her. She also goes to day care, as I work full time. She has had the expected handful of colds and sniffles and such that day care kids pass around, but all in all she's healthy as a horse. I think she got the flu once, but that was literally one week after I let her doctor bully me into giving her the flu shot, back when she was a year old. I'll never let that one happen again! Good for you for your decision! Honestly, I support people whether they vaccinate or not, just so long as they make an informed decision, and don't just blindly follow what the doctors and pharmaceutical companies tell them to do. I encourage everyone to do their homework and make the choice that's right for them and their little ones.

  Re: Vaccinations Reply Contact Oldest - vaccinated on schedule - developmental delay, speech delay, sensory processing disorder, possible apraxia, possible adhd... its a night mare. all started after receiving mmr vaccine middle child - vaccinated on schedule until 9 months, then delayed and selective. split up mmr got measles at 18 months, then stopped vaccinating. youngest - no vaccines and will not receive any. I have a fried who she and her 2 brothers were never vaccinated - no problems. while its not likely, your child may get sick. its more likely your child will have a bad reaction to the vaccines though. feel free to send me a private message and I can give you plenty of info if you are interested.
