Ugh I forgot to mention yesteday that when I went to change Victor's diaper after Ma had been here, the diaper was on BACKWARDS!!  How the heck do you get it on backwards?  And in what state of mind does it make sense that the diaper straps go in the back?  I feel like calling the woman and telling her I know she's a lying idiot and unfit to care for a child.

    Eyes rolling....who does that?

I'm so bent out of shape that MIL lied to me.  It's really a big deal to me that she ruined my frozen bm.  You can't just whip that stuff out of a freaking can lady, it takes time to sit there and pump that out!  God she pisses me off.

I think the worst thing is that she actually lied about it. Like how does she expect you to trust her with your child when she won't tell you the truth about what she's doing with him?!

    Off to the ped!!

I always like going. We get to go end of the week for 10 month stats. Wow...10 month stats...that's just crazy!

So DH took Addison for her 9mon apt last week and he said they did not say at what age we bring her back again. So does everyone else have a 10mon apt. I know I just need to call and ask them. Ill do that at lunch.

We go again at 12 months.

Have you ever heard of a baby going to the chiropractor??  I person I know took her baby at like 2 or 3 weeks old.

I took Morgan when she was a few weeks old. It's good to just get them checked out. Morgan only ended up having like one adjustment because there was very little misalignment in her spine. If there is any though, if you get it fixed when they're little then it's an easy fix. If you wait until later on, it's a bigger problem and harder to deal with. Plus, there's some research showing that in a large percentage of babies who have died from SIDS, there's a certain misalignment of one of the vertebrae so that it's slightly pressing into the area of the brain in control of breathing. So it's possible that having a baby checked by a chiropractor could help SIDS.

My chiropractor just uses her fingers to adjust babies, not the applicator that she uses on adults. And she has kids of her own that she's been adjusting for their whole lives, so I trust her with my kids. I wouldn't go to someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with babies.

Victor is mahvelous! His 9.5 month stats are 22 lbs 11 ounces, 30.5 inches! Not much change in height just a quarter of an inch but an 11 ounce gain in one month! They were also out of flu shots so I have to go back when they get more in for his second dose. She said if he didn't get his second dose of it he'd probably be ok, but try to get him in for it. She said that its still beneficial to him to have just the half dose still. She also told me to make sure I get my swine flu shot as well as dave, and if I can also for V. They're in such high demand though it'll be hard to find them! she highly recommends it for babies but for me is a must since the higher incidence of it attacking healthy individuals, also so I can care for the baby. His hemeglobin came back super, and that patch of icky next to his mouth is the nummular eczema and its a difficult spot ti keep dry but she said it will go away with some 1% hydrocortizone cream. It was a great appointment, she just loved him, he gave her a slimy kiss!!! Surprise he was walking for her and trashing her paper sheet LOLhe was climbing the walls laying on the cheese for her. What a ham I have!

Fantastic appointment!!! Doesn't it make you so proud to know that your care for your child is allowing them to flourish so well?!

It really does.  It's such an amazing feeling, especially with bfing.  It makes me feel really good about my decision.  I'm so glad my np is all in agreement with what I do as well....

    sidenote:

She told me aside from chicken/turkey there isn't much else she'd suggest in terms of meat with protein.  Like she didn't suggest beef/veal babyfoods for babies.  I just thought that was interesting...

I like peanut butter for protein. Smile

Beef & pork always give me a run in w/ ED & that's why I don't even eat pork (except pepporoni) chicken & ground turkey don't bug me so much but I'll definitly hold out just for a while. I'm just more cautious because my mom gave me pork chops at 6mo and now look I can't even eat it w/out getting violently ill. I think Aidan deserves a better tummy than I have.

I think you're very wise for waiting on the meats with Aidan. Christine too. When there's any kind of family history involving intolerance of a food, it's just good judgement to wait to introduce it to a baby so that their digestive system has more of a chance to develop and stabilize before attempting that food. If you have such trouble with those foods then it's a good idea not to risk it with Aidan. It's not like you're depriving him nutritionally or anything. Smile

I think it's awesome that you take his nutrition so serious. If more parents did that, we'd have less childhood obesity; it's such a major issue in this country.

I get so tired of people (specifically inlaws) complaining to me about how thin my kids are, and how they don't clean their plates. My kids are thin, but not too thin. They eat some of everthing off their plates, but stop when their bodies say they are full. Sometimes that's after half a serving, sometimes after two. Sometimes they pack so much away I wonder where it goes...either way, they are healthy and only look too thin because so many of their peers are too big.

You know I've read that they're starting to attribute some of the childhood obesity epidemic that we're having now to parent's forcing their kids to clear their plates. The thought is that by forcing your kids to clear their plates even when they say they're done, you're teaching them to ignore the satiety signals the stomach is sending. Basically you teach them to keep eating even after they're full.

So just tell that to your inlaws! lol

Have your babies gotten over the separation anxiety yet?  I was reading on the front page of babyweekly that they will start to lose that soon.  Gosh I can't freaking wait!  Sometimes it's SO awful and frustrating that I can't even go take a shower and leave him with Dave.

We haven't experienced any real separation anxiety actually. I didn't with Mackenzie either. She got a little clingy around the time of Morgan's birth but that's to be expected since we pretty much turned her world upside down bringing a baby home!

    hehehehe...

as long as they're growing and healthy and happy who cares what a growth chart says!?

Plus, the growth charts that pretty much every doctor uses were developed using mostly formula fed babies! Makes them not very helpful with bf babies. Smile

    Dave's Buttercup:

So I have to giggle at something.  A few days ago, I decided to thaw out some soup I had made a year (maybe two??) ago to see how it looked.  I didn't get a chance to check it yet, however Ma decided to help herself to some soup yesterday.  Well I just realized that I made that soup BEFORE I was pregnant, in early 2008 and it managed to come over with us in the cooler, still frozen, on the last day of our move.  I guess it would still be ok because it was frozen and thawed properly, but I wouldn't eat it!!  HA that's what she gets for not calling me and asking what she should eat in the fridge!!!

I'd also like to add that instead of just following my instruction and only feed Victor his purees, because I had just breastfed him before I left so he didn't need it and we would be in touch if it was too long of a time frame, she took it upon herself to do whatever she wanted.  Had she called me, or even answered her cell phone when I called, she would have known to use the sippy.  GRR.

Another thing that bothers me about her is how sloppy she is; for instance, I knew she had soup because she left her unfinished bowl out on the table with dribbles on the table EWW.  she also left things out of the cabinets that she took out: Victor's cereal, the cheerios with the bag not folded or box closed, salt that I'm assuming she used in her soup...

She just has no respect for you at all does she? I don't understand how people can be so self-involved and not think about others at all.

    Re: 2009 by 2009

Hey ladies!  I have been 'auditing' some from work, haha.  I can't post via our internet policy, but I've been a little bored lately, so I occasionally read the postings.  I'm getting ready to move to a new assignment (very excited), but in the meantime I have little work to do in my current role.

It sounds like everyone is doing well.

I was going to tell Amanda that I do give Ian lean ground beef, but it does not bother him.  He doesn't have meat every day, but when he does, he mostly eats chicken.  Well, really, he mostly eats fruits and vegetables and whole grains...hehe.  He also gets yogurt and cheese on a fairly regular basis, and he handles that really well, too.  However, neither Corey nor I have any history of stomach issues.  Def understand why you, Christine, and Chelsea are waiting on some of those things.

Someone else was asking about table foods and when to start them recently.  Ian is eating mostly table food at this point.  He only has 2 teeth, but he actually was eating tons of table food before those arrived earlier this month.  Once they can eat a cheerio, they should be able to eat just about anything that isn't a choking hazard.  We're trying to expose him to as many things as possible right now...they say it's much easier to expand their horizons before about 18 months to 2 years.

Melanie - I read earlier today about Elijah's potential preschool opportunity.  It sounds great, and I agree with the other girls - you can always pull him out, if you feel it's necessary.

I know there were some other things I wanted to comment on, but I really just wanted to say hi.  Sorry for my LONG post :).

I gave into the organic apple puffs at whole foods [:/] aidan was screaming & boy did they shut him up. All I heard was "mmmmm" that's his new thing when he likes something. Lol. They're not too bad. I'm going to try sweet potato, who knows how to make it for a baby?

I bake my sweet potato...keeps all the nutrients in. I just stick it with a fork a few times, then put it on a baking tray and bake it at 425 for about 50-60 minutes until it's tender, then  cut it open, scoop out the insides, and puree. Smile

     Hi Anna!

It's good to hear from you! Smile I agree that the lack of teeth isn't something to worry about when giving finger foods. It's the molars that are used for chewing anyway and they don't get those until close to 2 years! I don't think anyone wants to wait that long before giving finger foods...lol.

I'm glad that Ian is doing well! What kind of yogurt do you give him? I've just been doing the plain unsweetened yogurt for Morgan (I mix it together with fruit puree and her cereal for breakfast) but I might start giving her regular yogurt for a snack soon. I've been giving her lots of yogurt b/c she's been on antibiotics for an ear infection.

    Anyway, thanks for posting! Smile

Hi Jessica!  It's nice to be back, even if it's temporary!

I give Ian regular yogurt with the fruit mixed in, though I make sure that it's not low-fat or non-fat yogurt...they need the real deal at this point.  I tried plain unsweetened yogurt, and he wasn't too crazy about it.  I also started him on yogurt, because he was on antibiotics for an ear infection followed by a stomach virus back in July.  Early for dairy, I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures!  Was the only thing that helped...
