What should i give her for constipation?

Renata tried apples, and is now having a lot of constipation...yesterday i think the build up finally became to much and she spent an hour crying and pushing, and i eventually was changing her diaper and ended up rooting her on for getting all of it out...but her poor little bum actually got a little cut and i felt so bad the whole time.  we put desitin on her...but is there anything i can give her in drop form to soften the stool? she wont drink from a bottle so any juices are impossible.

extra water sometimes helps and I also think that prune juice does too, diluted of course, I have not had a lot of trouble with Skylar, maybe a couple of times, but I did use (TMI) a Q-tip with vaseline on it and stimulated his anal track and he went probably an hour later, I know, I fell like I violated him! lol.

I would go buy her some prunes already made like natures Best or gerber in the GLASS jars/ not the plastics that is in BPA Plastics... Urrrr makes me mad!! But give her that a couple times a day, mix it in her food if she wont take it plain. Mattie got stopped up at one point and I just gave her prunes fore a few days until her stools became super soft. It wouldnt hurt to mix a little prunes in from time to time. They are healthy as well. Best wishes for Ranata!

Yes!  Otherwise if she won't drink a bottle you can make some of her food with prune juice/prunes mixed in.   If you are making your own baby food (I think so) you can buy some plums and use those for baby food.  I give them to Kale every other day and it seems to have helped.  Prunes are just dried plums so it's basically the same thing but he seems to like the taste better of the plums over the prunes. And yes the rectal stimulation if you has to works, but I do feel bad doing it.  We've done it only once as a last resort!  HTH! ~Kalissa

My dr. told me to put 1/2 tsp of dark caro syrup per a 4oz bottle.  I think your bfing, but if you give her a bottle every now & then, you can try that:)

same thing happened to my son after my MIL gave him apples. My son doesnt take bottles either so I gave him diluted prune juice in a syringe. it didnt work so after a few days I gave him straight prune juice in the syringe, 5ml worth and it worked.

Thanks for the advice...shes been able to actually go twice, but she cries the whole time and sweats in pain...my husband is supposedly going to be picking up baby prunes today, so we will see if she likes them...and i told him to get plums too incase she doesnt.  I think we need to get her stools softer so she will actually go when she feels the urge, i think shes afraid because it hurts :(

We do this also.  Erin rarely has any problems with BM.  I had a friend who used some diluted prune juice and her son had severe diarrhea all day long.  I was fearful of that so I went with the syrup.  Syrup makes me go too!

William did the same thing he screamed and finally passed a bm and tore his bum it was sad so i gave him prune juice and if cleared him out! be careful to not give her to much because it can cause cramps. i did one oz of juice and one oz of water twice a day morn and night.
