    Sippy Cups

Anyone off the bottle? Anyone trying to wean and have some advice? Rylan hates the sippy cup. I have 3 different kinds and he hates them all. I have a few months before he needs to be totally weaned, but I'd love to hear your stories.

Zach likes the sippy cup, but he is still not really good at using it himself. He would rather play with it. He doesn't grasp that he has to tilt it to drink. He likes to act like he is drinking from a straw so i was thinking of getting those sippies, but wasn't sure about it.

I bought a straw one. They're kind of neat. But he still hates them all. I remember Krumply writing something about her older daughter doing better with straws? If I'm not mistaken. I have 2 of the Nuby kinds, 1 Dr. Brown's, which is more traditional but with a slower flow. And one with the straw. I have used the straw the least. I should try it more. Of the others, he seems to do best for me with the Dr. Browns, but really, he'll only take a sip before throwing it; crying; screaming; etc.

Great memory. That was me. My daughter loved to suck so it was an easy transition for her to go to a sippy with a silicone straw. It's like anything you put into her mouth she would automatically suck on so it was easy. She couldn't get the hang of tilting the sippys with a spout.

Coben, yeah, I'll be nursing till he's 20. Tongue Tied

for alec and eli I have had to put something in it that was different that they WANTED to drink. for us it was a bit of juice. all it too was some of the taste and then they were okay with that. alec won't accept everything and generally is having a harder time with it than his brother, I blame the bottles he has gotten from time to time cause Eli never got any! lol. as far as milk in a sippy. that never worked for me with my firstborn.... I had to add flavored yogurt to the milk, so I don't know if you will succeed at that quite yet. who knows?

    Re: Sippy Cups

Lilly only has one sippy cup right now. I need to get more. The one we have is a Born Free cup with handles that are removable. I took them off bc she was distracted by them and would turn the cup sideways and just chew on the handles. Now that they are gone she does really well with it. I haven't used the bottles, but the sippy cup lid fits on them, so sometimes we do that :) I put juice diluted with water, or just plain water. She likes it a lot. She also likes to drink from a regular cup and does pretty good (when I am holding it haha).

Alyssa does pretty good but can't really lift it up much. She too would rather play with it and suck on it. She will not hold her bottle and I tried putting handles on them (from one of the sippy cups) and she still wont do it lol. I took ODD off the bottle at 1 because she never wanted to hold it and went to sippy cups...didnt go so well since she stopped drinking milk altogether for a while. I still have a hard time getting her to drink milk and she is 3.

    Re: Sippy Cups

I Should also say that BOTH my boys have used a regular cup from the beginning, drinking from our cups. so it's okay to try to teach them that way too. I think people tend to use a sippy as a second bottle and keep it WAY too long.

Cadence steals her brothers sippy cup all the time and actually drinks his milk :S I have to run to steal it back before she gets a belly full of 2%. He uses regular hard plastic cups and she drinks from them fine. I bought her some soft ones of her own to differentiate between hers and his and she prefers his milk to anything I give her haha. I keep meaning to ask my doc if i can give her bits of milk or not....
