    Update on Us...

Hey Ladies! I know, I know. I'm turning into a horrible poster. We've had a lot going on lately. Jillian got a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy on October 22nd. It really shouldn't surprise me, but it does. I've been having pity parties for myself and Jillian. :p Adam seems to think that it won't change anything, but he doesn't have to schedule all the appointments and specialists. I love Adam, don't get me wrong, I'm just beyond frustrated... it's a life long diagnosis for her, regardless of severity. We now have to go see a nutritionist (since she's still not eating solids), a feeding team, an orthopedist (for braces on her legs), opthomology (one of her eyes turns in when she's tired), we're also getting referred to the best children's rehab centre in Canada. I'm just having a hard time with the diagnosis. Jillian is now starting to army crawl, but due to her high tone in her legs and trunk, she can't get into the proper crawling position. I guess I have a hard time coming when all of your babies are walking, talking, etc. I just try to keep pushing on day after day. Lauren is doing well. She's almost 3 (in January) and not yet potty trained. I need a period of time where we don't have appointments. I feel that I'm letting her down by not having her potty trained. Hopefully that'll come soon. She and Jillian are really cute together and that saves them from not being given away to gypsies. ;) I hope you all are doing well. And I DO like hearing about all of your babies, it's just hard. We're not sure if Jillian will ever walk, we're hopeful, but we're not positive. I'll try to stop by more regularly. :) Hugs to all of you. :)

    Hey Cheryl,

Sorry to hear about the Cerebral Palsy. My pastors son has muscular distrophy. Dushanes type. I believe that is the worst type of MD there is. I know not the same but both of you have a cross to bear (SP). Just trust in HIM and I will pray for your family.

Steven isn't walking yet. At least not on his own.  As for the potty training not to worry Jesse my 4YO DD was just potty trained last Jan she turned 4 in Sept. One day she woke up and just decided she was going to use the potty. She woke up and the first thing out of her mouth was I gotta go potty. I couldn't believe it. I almost fell over. Where did this come from. She has been out of diapers ever since. She has only had a couple accidents and now she is a pro.

Good luck with everything girl. Keep in touch. HUGS

Wow. CP is a hard diagnosis to have. My heart goes out to you and what you have to deal with on a daily basis.

I know Jillian is a bit young, but in Florida we have Easter Seals camps for disabled children and adults to go to. Maybe when she gets older you can find something like that so you can have a break. I know everything is different in Canada, but I hope, for your sake that there's some sort of respite care for Jillian to go to. Having a disabled family member is hard on everyone.

    Hi Cheryl,

I don't post often, but I just wanted to say that I am sorry to hear about Jillian's diagnosis.  My eldest son was born at 29 weeks, and I worried alot about Cerebral Palsy, (and the other things that come with prematurity.)

Tom was lucky, although he needed oxygen until he was about 4 weeks corrected age (15 weeks from birth) he has not had any other significant issues, (he is 7 now).

My thoughts are with you, and your family. One day at a time, one step at a time, and you can cope with anything.

Lots of luck to you all.

    Kate

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter's condition. I can't imagine how hard that must but be. I will definitely keep you all in my prayers. Please don't beat yourself up about your three-year old not being potty trained yet. My two boys were both 3 1/2 and that was despite much effort on my party much earlier. She will when she is ready. Don't fret about that. Pat yourself on the back for all that you are doing.
