    Hi Aessa,

sorry I just saw your other post and saw that you are American and living in Germany. Not sure if you speak German as well. What brought you to Germany?

I am guessing you are the parent that speaks English to your child? How is that going? We are raising our daughter bilingual as well, and she is just starting to speak. So far she has words in both languages...

    Re: German anyone?

I speak German and read it very well but please don't ask me to write!!!! I grew up in Germany but have been in Tx since '89. My mother is German and my father Texan. My kids call my mom Oma and my dad Papa. My daughter who is 13 doesn't speak German but does understand a little bit. Her father resented me speaking German around her so she didn't really pick up on it. My son howver seems to be picking up more German than she did (his father is not around). My mother is from Saarland and we have a very different accent/slang down there. I have a few girlfriends from Germany and when speaking to them, I often have to repeat myself since they aren't from the same region. We did live close to Weisbaden for 4 years so I can speak properly but all my family.....we speak platt deutsch.
