I thought my mirena was bothering me and went to that web site and realized I wasn't alone. If they would have told me all that I don't think I would have gotten it put in. I would never recommend it to anyone. I have had mine out for about 1 month now and have lost about 6 pounds and my blood pressure is down and I am starting to feel normal again.

When I asked my doctor about getting an IUD he steered me away from it period.  He said the side affects are almost worse than its worth so I should just stick with the pill.  I am currnetly taking Yasmin and am perfectly happy with it.

I love my Mirena! I've had none of those side effects and love that I don't have to think about taking a pill every day.

Do remember, that as with any contraceptive, it affects every one differently. I have had my Mirena for over 2 years and have had no side affects.

I didn't like my at first but after my body had time to adjust to it, I LOVE it.  No periods, no cramps, no side effects whatsoever.  I just had to get through the first 8 months or so.

    Re: MIRENA IUD

I had a mirena iud put in shortly after my third child was born in 03 after the first four or so months I didn't have any problems with it, until I had it for a year, I was pregnant, and not a tubal. We had a touch and go pregnancy and were induced a week early, but made it through. I liked the iud if it worked. But BC just doesn't seem to work for me. I have gotten pg on a lot of them, pill, mini pill, depo, iud. You should look into what will work best for your lifestyle tho. Good luck!

    Re: MIRENA IUD

I had my mirena in August of 07 after my second child. From the moment it was inserted I felt I had nothing but problems. With no birth control my period last 3-5 days with the mirena it last 10-14 days every month. I had horrible cramps the whole time. I actually made an appointment for the middle of June 08 to have it removed becuase I was so uncomfortable and low and behold a few days later my body expelled. 8 days after it got expelled I got pregnant. So I am now due with number 3 in March 09.

Everyone has different experiences with birth control granted. I feel like the manufactures of Mirena and the doctors that place these devices are not truthful about the possible side effects.

I would hate to see anyone suffer like I did.

I never bled or cramped or gained weight or anything w/ it. But of course, everyone is dif and BC affects each woman dif
