I'm working on my AA as well. I tried to take online classes but the classes I needed weren't available. Here in California, the tuition prices are about to go up because the Governor thinks it will help the state budget get out of the whole. They always go after the college students.

He my name is Melissa and I have a 6 month old baby boy. I became pregnant fall semester of my sophomore year and had my baby in the summer. My son was six weeks old when I started off my junior year and let me tell you, you can do it. You might want to see if your school has a daycare, because a lot of schools do even if it is not directly for the students of the school, (like ours is more for the community) they usually give students discounts and stuff like that. Also many states have a childcare program that will help you pay for your childcare whether a family member watches the baby or you put the baby in daycare so you might want to look into that. It's going to be tough but it is not impossible. Like I said I had my son at the end of one semester and was back in school for the next. Just try not to take on too much of a work load.

    Re: Any college mommies here??

I started my BS in March 2004. I already had a 5 year old son and a 3 year old stepson. I was pregnant when I started and had my daughter in July '04. I took two weeks off and returned. Then I had my son in March '06 and I took no time off (I missed class the night I had him, then went to class the following week). Then I had my youngest daughter in February '07, again took no time off and I have two classes left and am 4 months pregnant. This baby's due in June '09 and, although I planned on going for my MSW this fall, my husband's in law school and I honestly don't know if I can go to school full-time, while having 6 kids (we have custody of my stepson) and with my husband in law school full-time. However, it is manageable with less kids. It may even be manageable in my situation, although I feel it would be a bit overwhelming. Anyway, you can take the excess on your student loans and use that to supplement your income/daycare costs. Like the previous post said, a lot of colleges have on-site daycares and there are community programs such as EOB that will provide daycare assistance. Just know that although it's not the easiest thing in the world, you are providing your child with a better future. Good luck.
