    What's going on?

I've been hearing alot of stories of people finding small children wondering around parking lots alone. What is going on with the parents? One child walked out of a daycare center, crossed busy traffic, went to a gas station, took some candy, then wondered over to a Hooters parking lot. Finally someone saw this little boy and called the police. Another story, a child was found in a parking lot after he was wondering around 20 mins by himself. The mother was still in the store shopping. I know the summer isn't over yet but atleast I haven't heard too many stories of parents leaving their children in hot cars and finding them dead, but I may be speaking too soon.
