    Hi Ladies...I'm new here

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 months ago. I have a 5 1/2 year old son, Julian and I've had 3 losses. My most recent loss was on 9-15-07. I'm on the TTCAL board. The DR has me on Metformin, which I was on for about 1 month before I got pregnant this last time. He had given me a rx for Clomid, but I didn't take, got pregnant on my own, but only made it to 5 weeks. I'm not sure how to handled my diagnosis....even if I lose weight, change my diet, that will all help with health issues, but it doesn't guarantee me a healthy pregnancy. I sent out for some information on a pcos website hopefully to grasp a better understanding of everything. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone....I look forward to getting to know all of you. Kelley

    Re: Hi Ladies...I'm new here

Hi there, I also suffer PCOS. I was diagnosed in March last year & told that I had less than a 5% chance of ever getting pregnant. 1 month later (after a failed cycle on Clomid) I was given Provera to make me bleed. Turns out that that was the issue all along, my progesterone levels are too low after ovulation. I can conceive (when I do ovulate) but keeping the embryo is a bit of a struggle for me as if your progesterone levels are too low then your body won't support the embryo unitl the placenta takes over at the start of the 2nd trimester. I now have a beautiful little 10 month old girl & have just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant (I'm taking 2 Provera tablets a day until I reach week 12). Hope this may give you another avenue to investigate. They can check your progesterone levels through blood tests to make sure it is rising properly.

    Re: Hi Ladies...I'm new here

Hi all. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 16 years old. At the time it really didnt seam to be a big deal because i was not really thinking about having babies. Now at 24 my husband and i have been trying to conceive for 2 years with no luck. the very few times i was pregnant i would MC within the first 4-5 weeks. My husband and i both wanted at least 3 kids but now we find ourselves praying for even 1. every one of my close friends have had children or are pregnant and it is more depressing to me knowing that some of them didnt want the baby and didnt plan to have it. Since being diagnosed 8 years ago my weight has really been up and down. in the past year i have done everything i can to become healthy enough to carry a child. No luck so far but maybe with more time we will have our little miracle. Wishing you all the best of luck with conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy and little one.

    Re: Hi Ladies...I'm new here

Hi Kelly, I am so very sorry to hear of your losses. I too am on Metformin AGAIN to get pregnant for the second time. Did your doctor test if you are ovulating? My Dr explained to me that Clomid can bring DOWN the possibility of getting pregnant to 40-60% if you are already ovulating and have a higher percent than that. I will be praying for you that you do have a wonderful healthy child! carla

Hi Taryn, I totally understand. Have you ever considered natural medicine Such as Herbal supplements, chiropractic, accupuncture? I will also pray for you. Something I was told that really made sense to me was that regardless if someone has PCOS or is what we call "unfairly normal" God opens the womb! I does not hurt to just RELAX too. We found out that we were pregnant 3 weeks or so after my husband signed up for classes to finish his bachelors. what a surprise when we had pretty much given up. Now we are trying for a second and still not going well. Unfortunatly, he does not have any more classes to sign up for ;) just kidding. I really will pray that God blesses you with at least one child!!! Carla

    Re: Hi Ladies...I'm new here

Hello all. I too am new here. I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago. I was placed on Metformin as well. However it did not do anything to help me. My husband and I are coming up on our 1st Anniversary and have decided to start to try for a baby. I have several concerns though. See I was injured at work 1 month before our wedding and my injury developed complications. I developed a blood clot in my leg from my injury, which luckily has finally been resolved. However I have had to have 2 surgeries to repair the damage to my herniated disc and broken vertebrae in my spine and the damage done to both my knees from my injury. So, our first year of marriage has been quite the roller coaster. And we have survived it. I am finally healthy enough to start trying for a baby. But, because of the PCOS and getting a blood clot I will be considered high risk so I am a little afraid of complications. I see that several of you have recommended some PCOS sites, but was wondering if any of you know about blood clot sites as well. I just wanna make sure that when and if we do get pregnant that we are properly prepared. Any direction you could point me in will be greatly appreciated. The docs said to go ahead and start trying and that they would be there for me when I need them, but I also would like to learn as much as I can so that when I do go to them I have a good grasp of what's what. Any thoughts about pregnancy, PCOS and blood clots?

    Re: Hi Ladies...I'm new here

I'm also new here I'm 28 years old and married for about 14 months. We have dated for ten years, and we are ready to have a baby. I have pcos, my menstrual cycle is not normal, and the other things associated with pcos are not present. I was given yazmin, metformin and they made me very ill. ever since I was told that I had pcos I have been really depressed. All those times that I thought I could of been pregnant were a joke. to top things off my husband and me do not have health insurance.
