    Dr. appt Nov 19

So, I still haven't heard from my doc, so I just made an appointment for Nov 19 to talk to him about my cycles...by the time I go it will be right at 5 months with no O after stopping the bcp back in July. Hopefully he will go ahead with a workup and not say it's still too early. So...any suggestions on questions to ask or what to expect? My cycles were long/possibly irregular before I started the pill about 5 years ago.

I have been to so many doctors and I think I can only tell you one thing...YOU know your body better than any doctor would ever know it.  If you want him to start treatment NOW, you tell him you don't want to take no.  Tell him you want a work up, tell him what you expect and don't let him brush you off.  One of the few times I say it is SO important to be SUPER agressive is with healthcare.  Not everyone fits into a checkbopx.  Not everyone falls into the "within normal limits" category.  I hope for your sake that you get some answers and at least get something done for you.  You have been so patient and kind to everyone from support to encouragement and excitement!  That has to be hard when going through the wait you are going through!  Good luck, I keep all you ladies in my prayers but I will be sure to keep you in them specifically!

I always go in with the intent to be aggressive, but I tend to wimp out when a doc says something I don't agree with...but at this point, I WILL get the answers I want, no more waiting!! I really appreciate the advice, and kind words and prayers! Thanks :-)

I am really excited for you that you finally get to see a dr!I think about you all the time. I agree withe pp that you have been so kind, generous and patient with us all! I definitely think you should let them know exactly what you want done! I do not have much experience on what to ask on that topic, but clomid is the one I've heard of brought up the most. Good luck and please let us know how it goes!:) Hugs!

I am also supposed to see the gyn on the 19th. I am supposed to have my progesterone checked and see if I'm ovulating correctly. Also they are supposed to do a pg test, just in case (oh I hope I'm pg!) But anyway I am supposed to go on clomid for the ovulation problem if it turns out I have one. Ask for a day 21 test which tests for the amount of the progesterone and tests for ovulation on CD 21. Good luck!

So, I'm thinking I'm going to ask about Provera and progesterone bloodwork later on day 21. He mentioned starting metformin at my last appointment, so maybe that, but I definitely think I need a work up rather than going straight to meds. I have no idea what else...I have a friend who has pcos, and they did an u/s for her, but I've also heard that ovarian cysts really don't tell you much as far as treating inferility. My grandmother had endometriosis and had to have a hysterectomy in her early 30's, but I'm not sure how hereditary that problem is, or if I really have any symptoms of that. My mom didn't have any problems that I'm aware of, and my other grandmother had my dad in her 40's, so I don't think any issues are coming from that side of the family! I have so many "what if" scenarios in my head right now...I just want some answers! Now I just have to get through the next 11 days without going crazy!

Thanks girls, I really appreciate having you guys to talk/vent to. Sticky baby dust to everyone this cycle!! Good luck Asha at your appt, as well!

I think they usually do blood tests to check progesterone and what not. If you haven't even had AF I would ask about checking for things like PCOS since you had irregular/long cycles prior to the pill. Good luck!
