Re: Im 39, pregnant with first... due June 23..
Hi- I am 40 pregnant with my first and probably only...due around May 21st. I have been nervous ever since I found out. My husband is polar opposite of me, quiet, shy, and matter of fact! He doesn't worry he just thinks that everything is fine and will be throughout the course. I, however, have had pain from day one of finding out I was pregnant to now at 20 weeks. I have had 4 ultrasounds and everything seems to be on tract, but, for awhile, it seemed to be one worry after another. I developed gestational diabetes and am on insulin throughout the day, am anemic and over weight so I cannot gain much if at all!! My problem is that I haven't felt much of the baby moving. I realize that being a little over weight can attribute to that but the movement isn't at all relevant and that worries me! On the positive side of it all, my last appt. the heartbeat was strong and my blood work came back normal so that took some of the stress away. My next appt. is Jan 15th and I can find out more as far as developement and such (sex).
I hope all is well and hope you have support around you. My husband loves me and the baby but is not the communicator I would like him to be.......
If anyone has advice and support that can be helpfull it is appreciated, Katherine

Hello ladies,
I am 40 pregnant with my first, due August 11th, 2009. I am so happy but scared too. Ultrasound at 7 weeks looked good with a healthy heart beat. My next visit with OB is Jan 22nd when we will do a nuchal tranlucency. Anxious about that. Would love to share thoughts, experiences with you other late blooming moms to be.

Re: Im 39, pregnant with first... due June 23..
I think I would be less scared if it wasn't my first and have been through this before... A co-worker had her last one at 45 and loved it but, she had four children before that one. I honestly believe that I overthink and worry too much and after every test I have I breath a sigh of relief and then boom neverous about something else. I am not neurotic about much in my life and this little baby is making me a wreck!! I am happy as well, don't get me wrong, but I didn't think something could make me feel cautious and insecure some of the time...Does it get easier???

Hello-
I wen through that test. I was crazy nervous but it came bake negative. I think it is a better alternative to the amio.
Good Luck!

A lot of you have had that test, but, I haven't, what is it and I am wondering if it is anything like a cvs test that they offered us. It is better than the amnio but a little more dangerous in the
realm of miscarriage? We opted out of it but will have an amnio at a later date............Thanks

I think many of the others are referring to a NT scan (nuchal translucency) which is a screening test giving results that indicate chances of certain things being present. It is not a diagnostic test like an amnio or CVS. It is done quite early. I didn't do it. I wanted definitive results and opted for a CVS. Good luck with your amnio.

Re: Im 39, pregnant with first... due June 23..
Hi- Thanks for the info. I did have a preliminary screening done when after meeting with the genetics counsler we opted out of the cvs and the amnio. I wish we would have had the cvs but we had so many reservations about it. With the amnio it will be later on in the pregnancy so if there are things wrong with the baby then we will have to deal with it as it comes. The screening came back normal but am looking forward to the amnio. Thanks again!
