    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that ICAN now has a myspace page! Check it out here: www.myspace.com/cesareanawareness

ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) is about helping avoid unnecessary cesareans, cesarean recovery support, and helping women access and get support for the option of VBAC. Cesareans can be lifesaving and necessary when applied properly. Many cesareans, however, are unnecessary and avoidable. The World Health Organization states that the cesarean rate should be no higher than 10-15%, stating that rates above this cause more harm than good to mothers and babies. Currently, the United States has an over 30% cesarean rate, meaning that half to two-thirds of cesareans performed are avoidable and causing unnecessary harm.

For more info on ICAN, go to www.ican-online.org. We have mother-to-mother in person support group meetings, our own forums, an email list, an upcoming Conference (April 2009 in Atlanta, GA), and now our brand new myspace page! Check it out, be our friend, and let us know how we can support you!

    Thanks,
    -Lauren
