Re: Who is out there over 35?

This is baby #3 and I am 35. My mother had baby #4 at 35 and had to have a c-section. She was telling my sister the other day that she was very concerned about me because she couldn't have natural birth at my age. She keeps making these stupid remarks like - you can't hang those curtain (raising your hands above your head) and then gives me this You know what I'm talking about look Grrrr Angry Anyone else getting "You're so old" vibes ?

Yeah... I got that from my mom too...Her thing was " Well you know, your grandmother on your father side had a baby late and that is why your aunt has Downs Syndrome" And this was my favorite comment from Dear Old Mom...Your almost free! (Before I had Kai 1, my baby Bryanna was 13) I take comments like that and throw them away. I don't ALLOW negative thoughts enter in my world...and my kids are my world.

I agree Allison. Put it in a bubble and blow it away LOL. Keep the good, let go of the bad. It would just be nice to have support from your mom - you know.

You know, my mom reminded me that back in the day, when people lived on farms and had a lot of land, they often had 5, 6, 7 children. The last ones would be born late in the woman's life. It's not that unusual. And I've got to say, every doctors appointment I go to, the other pregnant women I see are in their 30's. I took a breastfeeding class and about 90% were in their 30's. And last week I took a C-Section class, every single lady in her 30's. People need to just get over it. Life has different plans for us all. Sure, ideally I wish I was younger, but I feel soooo blessed. I do get a lot of crap from people though, who look at me and say "How OLD are you?" The president of my company even said in front of all my co-workers while looking at me "Be careful what you wish for. I knew a lady in her 30's who had a child with Down Syndrome."

Congrats and welcome Maria. Was it a deliberate choice to wait this long for your first or is it a matter of the time only being right now ? Well either way you're in good company here. All the best for happy pregnancy and birth.

I am 35 wks but the mdwf says any day now. On 1 June she is scheduled to come set up the birth pool but she has said if I feel "different" at any point I must call her and she will bring it along early. So I am in that "Is this it ?" stage. I'm glad it's nearly show time !

Hello Sisters! I am Elle Saunders, 38 years old. I am 5 weeks, and will be 6 weeks on Tuesday. My due date is Juanuary 18th of next year. I have two daughters 16 and 17. My oldest will graduate later this morning. So, my little butterfly is off to college, while I have a little bean growing inside me. The baby was a surprise. But we are both so thrilled. At this time, my husband, and I are both in the ARmy and are stationed at Fort Campbell, KY with the 101st Airborne. I will be getting out this summer though because I do not want to raise another child as a soldier mom. Cant wait to get to know all of you.

I know it's difficult but try to ignore her. Everyone gives advice based on their own experience. My mother had 6 children starting at 30 with the last a month before she turned 43. My little sister is 5'10 gorgeous, extremely smart and healthy. I am having my first at 38. So far I haven't dealt with any comments about being too old. I have been getting warnings from people for 8 years about waiting too long though.

Re: Who is out there over 35?

I am 32 and the mother of 6 wonderful children. On Saturday my husband told me it had been a whie since my last period so I should get a test. I lauged at him because of all the stress no wonder I had mised a couple periods. But I als listened and got a test, it wasn't even almost no it was a deffinate yes. I am nine weeks, and very nervous. I have given birth to 8 childre full term and had 4 confirmed 2 suspected miscarriages. I thought I was done but aparently birth control can flub if you go to a higher elevation or take one pill at a different time than the day before grrrrr. am happ don't get e wrong I have a lot of love to give . Just not sure how to tell my other kids oldest 14 and yougest 4 that they are gonna have a new brother or sister. Shawnehalm-I just wanted to say those people are out of their minds. It is such a gift to be able to be the vessel to cary a baby into life. It is so wondrous and at times nautious but stil wonderful. I am 32 and have a lot of complications with my pregnancies but every child is a gift from god and there is a reason for each of their lives. Ignore those stinking ignorant people.

Re: Who is out there over 35?

I am 39 and pregnant :) I had told DH that I was hesitant about having a baby after 40. He said to pray about it. I told him "february" would be the last time I'd really want to be pregnant - nope- April was my lmp- Now our little baby is due 1/7/10 I don't know if I'd forgotten how EXHAUSTED this makes you- or if this is just because I feel old ;) lol- I miscarried last year and someone said i should be thankful because "it probably was downs sindrome because of your age" I instantly hated that person for being so heartless - now I just realize she was ignorant and didn't know what to say. So - ladies - yes we're a bit older but we're a TON wiser! And....I know that we will be truly blessed each and every one of us. We will look back and think...what did we ever do WITHOUT this beautiful baby?
