I don't know much about it but I do know that pregnancy is suppose to some what/how "cure" it for the time being.

Its very weird to me and not sure how it happens or works.

My Aunt has Lupus very badly and has since she was a teenager.  She wouldn't marry my uncle for a long time because of it and because she though she couldn't have kids.

She had 2 wonderful boys and during her pregnancies she was completely healthy.

    Re: Lupus

I only know a little about it because I have another autoimmune disease. Lupus is where your immune system basically turns on your body. Pregnancy suppresses the immune system, so sometimes the symptoms can be less severe during pregnancy. Having it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't get pregnant or maintain a pregnancy, but it would make you high risk because there is a chance that the autoantibodies can cross the placenta and affect the baby. Doesn't happen often, but it can. It also depends on what type of lupus you have and what organ systems it has attacked or damaged.

Here are a couple of sites I found with information:

    http://www.hopkins-arthritis.org/arthritis-info/lupus/lupus-in-pregnancy.html

    http://lupus.webmd.com/guide/pregnancy-lupus

My ex-husband's new wife has it and they told her it best for her to not get pregnant because it could kill her. I think like someone else said I think it depends on each person and how severe their condition is.

    Re: Lupus

I know someone who found out during her last pregnancy that she has lupus. She has had 7 pregnancies, and only two live births. Her baby was born premature and still has a lot of issues. I don't know how much of the babies issues were due to the lupus, but it was recommended for her health not to get pregnant again.

On the other hand, my cousin also has lupus and has 3 healthy children. I never heard of her having any losses. I think it's one of those case by case things.
