Bedrest at 30 wks, first pregnancy, lots of questions!!
Ok, I am 25 and this is my first pregnancy so I am a little nervous here and hoping some people can help ease my mind. I was put on bedrest at 30 weeks, I was having a ton of braxton hicks contractions. I was put on Terbutaline every 6 hours but now only have to take it as needed since I am now on bedrest. I work as a nurse so I was always on my feet and my doctor thinks the stress of my job was causing all that, hence I am on bedrest! Also around my 30 week mark I noticed I dropped, at least I think I did, I'm not too sure how you can tell. But I have a lot of aches and pains in my hips and it feels so weird, like the baby is literally kicking my croch sometimes, lol. I also get very sore hips at night and pee a lot. But some people have said that's just the third trimester hell kicking in. Last exam I had my Dr. said my cervix was closed and high, so that's good right?! Then why do I feel like this? Are these just normal pregnancy pains to experience at almost 33 weeks now, I hope!! Please help ease my mind!!!

Those are totally normal pains for you to feel now. Your ligaments are loosenly up and it causes a whole bunch of aches and pains. With my last pregnancy I had to sit in a wheel chair cuz I felt like my hips were going to rip off and my crotch fall out. If you're still worried talk to your doctor about what you're feeling. But high and closed is good and means nothing is going on with your body yet to start labor

=) The fact your cervix is still closed is very good- it means your body isn't preparing for labor so your little pea can stay in his or her pod. I've been in a similar situation - this is my first pregnancy as well - I have been having braxton hicks / contractions since around 24-25 weeks into my pregnancy, off and on. I've been on bed rest since 32 weeks or so.
Make sure you sleep on your side and put a pillow between your legs & under your tummy-- maybe that will help your hip pain!- I find that helps me get comfortable in bed, but it makes getting out hard as hell ;)
How do you feel on the terbutaline? I was on that medicine for about five days and it drove me crazy.
Is the baby's head down? My son's head was down around that time, and its definately a different sort of feeling for him to be there. :) I think what you are experiencing is normal, but you can always call your Dr if you have any more concerns.... or if you notice any bleeding or sorts.
Hope this helps. - Elizabeth

Re: Bedrest at 30 wks, first pregnancy, lots of questions!!
Hey,
Thanks for easing my mind a little bit. Since time is nearing I think I am just getting a little overly anxious as well, esp. being a first time Momma! I have been starting to sleep with a pillow under my tummy and have been sleeping a lot better actually. I sleep with 7 pillows total! The terbutaline made me VERY tired actually. I only took it for 2 days and now I only take it as needed. But since I am just sitting around the house I don't need to take it. If I have a lot to do in a day or I know I will be up a lot I take it b/c that's when I usually get them. I was getting them like every 6-10 mins when I was working. My next Dr.'s appt. is Tuesday so we'll see about the baby's position. I am pretty sure she is down b/c of all the unusual pressure down there, lol.

Those pregnancy pains are totally normal. They may also variey with each pregnancy, for instance, I didn't really have them for my first. Now, it's like I need to lay down for like 15-20 minutes before I can move again. I am also 30 weeks pregnant and also on bed rest. I've been on bed rest since 23 weeks. The doc told me that by 34 weeks I should be good to go. How long are you on bed rest?
I know bed rest is hard. It's especially hard when you have other children. I find myself up and about the house when my son is home. I try to either sit at the computer or lay on the couch or bed as much as possible. As of now, things are stable...and I'm praying for 8 more weeks!

Re: Bedrest at 30 wks, first pregnancy, lots of questions!!
Hi...this is my second pregnancy and I am currently 29 weeks and on bed rest for preterm labor. I was having braxton hicks contractions every 2 minutes for a whole day. I went to the hospital and they admitted me and monitored my contractions and gave me procardia every 6 hours to stop the contractions. My cervix is dialated 1 cm and is very short (21 mm). I was sent home and put on bed rest. My doctor said I need to make it to at least 34 weeks. They have given me steroid shots to help develop the baby's lungs and brain in case she comes really early. I am really scared. I have an 8 month old baby too, so my husband and my parents are working overtime to pitch and and care for her and me!! Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation and made it to full term? My first pregnancy was so normal and I think that because I am having these two so close together, my body just cannot handle it! I am so scared that my baby will be born too early and suffer the consequences. Also, when I am laying down I barely have any contractions, but the minute I get up to even go to the bathroom, my uterus tightens up so hard and does not release until I lay back down. Anyone experience this???
