    Is it too far??

I'm really torn about which hospital I want to deliver at- and I need to choose ASAP- my last delivery was pretty decent- I just felt like I didnt know any of the staff etc and it was a little cold- but I was able to help with my son's first bath etc and he was never out of my sight- I was just really comfortable with how things turned out ultimately- I have already decided against the hospital closest to me because they've made it clear that I don't have a choice but to let them take my newborn away from me for like 2.5 hours- that someone was allowed to watch them at all times but not to stay with the baby.. anyway... there's one other hosptial i'm considering that has a much more personal approach and has a few alternative birthing suites (not sure if i'll be allowed to have access to them or not due to my hpb- but i'm sure the philosophy would spill over) anyway... that hospital really sounds great to me- but it's like 45 minutes away from my house... - the other hospital is nearly 30 minutes away (which, i know doesnt seem like a big difference- but- it really is- because it's right around the corner from my school's campus and is also the location of all my clinical sites- which reduces travel time for appointments) the hospital i like is a similar distance but in a different direction- and not convinient at all to get to from my school's campus... i'm just not sure which one to pick... anyway- if anyone has more savvy than me and can give me some extra motivation to choose between one or the other Methodist Hospital (indiana) is where I delivered my son-- and Community Hospital North  is where I am considering going instead this time.. any suggestions you ladies have would be great- thanks :)

Choose which ever hospital you'll feel more comfortable in. Have you taken a tour of Community North? if so, do you envision yourself giving birth there? Remember, where ever you're more comfortable/at easy is where you'll have an easier labor.

Definately go with the one that you feel most comfortable at. 15 minutes almost never makes a difference as far as getting to the hospital on time. Plus your body naturally releases adrenaline on the way to the hospital which works to slow your labor. Babies that are born in the car are the type that could have been born at home just as safely because they come out really easy. If it happens just wrap them up so they stay warm.

I didn't know that about the adrenaline release slowing labor. But now that i think on it, it's true. With my 2nd I labored at home as long as possible. I decided it was time to go to hospital when contractions got pretty hard. Got in the car and they pretty much stopped. Started back when i got relaxed at hospital. Good to know.....
