    Memorable ideas for C-Sections??

Hey there mamas! I will be going in for my 2nd c-section in June and want to see what ideas you all have for making it extra special. My daughter was breech the last pregnancy and we had her by c-section. Being my first pregnancy, and scheduling it the day before, I wasn't prepared to get creative with what went on during the surgery, other than having an instrumental suite CD played that was special to both my husband and I, which we had planned on doing if the labor went naturally anyway. That was great, by the way, because now my daughter has a special song and when I listen to it, I can relive when she was delivered, learning her gender, hearing her first cry, etc with certain phrases within the piece.

With this baby, I've heard from friends what they have done or heard done, such as 1) having a nurse take pictures of the surgery and of the baby being delivered so I can witness it, 2) having the doctor lift the baby out of my tummy so my husband can see over the curtain and him being the one to tell me if it was a girl or boy, 3) insisting that the baby be cleaned in the operating room and be wheeled to the recovery room with me so (s)he never leaves me (although my husband was really able to bond with my daughter when she was taken to the nursery to be cleaned up).

Thank you in advance for your ideas! I hope you can gather a few for yourself as well to help you feel like you have a little more control over the labor.

I hadn't even thought of wanting memorable stuff to do for it.. other than the pictures that is. DH will be taking pictures this time so I can see her as she's coming out. He stands up and watches over the curtain anyhow. I like the CD idea, hadn't thought of that at all. Go to the hospital for a tour and see how they do things... at the hospital I'm delivering at this time the baby stays with me the whole time. They even said she's not just in a bassinet being wheeled along with me, she's in my bed. I get to hold her as we go into the recovery room. How great is that? Different hospitals just do things differently, so find out what they routinely do and then see what kinds of changes you can make to that.

We had the nurse take a family picture in the OR - after both of my csections - and it is my favorite picture of both boys!!!

Hi, I went through exactly the same thing with my daughter as she was breech. My doc at the time booked my csection with 1 days notice to me and I had nothing planned. We took a few photos of her being born but that was about it. When my son was born I had enough notice and my gynea had loads of great suggestions. She allowed my husband to film the WHOLE thing. (It is like a documentary on C sections), the aneathatist took loads of photos of everything including the moment of birth as his little head popped out! But the best bit was, when my son was about to be born, my gynea lowered the blind and a nurse held my head up so I could watch him come out. Once his arms were out, my doc allowed my to pull him onto my chest and they just cover him up right there and left him on me, skin to skin for a couple of minutes! It was like a 'natural csection'!! They kept him with me in recovery too. Then they cleaned him in my room, they had a portable baby bath thing. I'm not sure what the facilities are like there, but maybe they will be able to do some of these thing. I absolutely loved my second Csection!!
