Re: Dual Military &/or the AD member?
The way I do it with my husband who is deployed is VIDEOS VIDEOS VIDEOS. My digital camera records in HD, but you really don't have to have a fancy once like that. Just take it with you to your appointments and video your ultrasounds or you can even record the doctor finding the heart beat on doppler. I felt a little goofy about it at first but I explained to the doctor why I was doing it and he was totally supportive. You can also write a little online/paper journal of important things that happen, or the feelings your having on different days, weeks, or months. It's the next best thing you have other than actually being together. I hope I helped a little bit! Good luck and i'll be here if you ever need to chat!

Re: Dual Military &/or the AD member?
Just wanted to tell you I feel your pain. My husband is scheduled to be deployed in July for 9 months. Our son is due July 26th. I am hoping things will get moved a little so he can be here for the birth. If not I plan to go back to NY (I live in CA) to have my mom help me & record the birth so I can send it to him. I agree with Ctink, videos & a journal will be a good way for him to feel "involved" with your pregnancy. Good luck :)

Jazzie Pants,
I really hope that they let your husband deploy late. I hope he's got a decent command. Good luck.

Re: Dual Military &/or the AD member?
You could make your own journal using Microsoft Word,Works, or notepad.. or you can google "Online Journals" and should be able to find something! I feel for all of you ladies because I am in the same position. I am 35 weeks preggo and my hubby has been deployed since the end of September, looking to be coming home by October. Our son will be 5 or 6 months by that time, so the pics and videos will be all my hubby has so I am really going to keep up with everything! Good luck to all of you

I'm pregnant with my first child, AD, but stationed in South Korea... the most "forward deployed" base you can get.
I work with all guys, the one and only other pregnant female left while I was on leave, so I couldn't even talk to her about it! I just found out yesterday, and I plan on telling my leadership Monday... wish me luck.

Re: Dual Military &/or the AD member?
I totally agree with pp. My husband was deployed a month before our first was born and almost the whole pregnancy for our second. I wrote a journal. I wrote down every little kick that woke me up with time and everything. Took lots and lots of pics too. All he had when he came home was my journal and photo album. With our second he miss the whole pregnancy and came home when he was 3months old. With our first he didnt see her until she was almost 6 months. I am really glad her broke his leg right after he got home from Iraq. they wouldnt deploy him again with a rod in his leg. His contract was up in Oct of last yr. Thank God. My heart and prayers go out to all you ladies that cant be with your other half during this special time.

Re: Dual Military &/or the AD member?
Hey, I am now 38 weeks with my first and my husband and I are both active duty.....Everyone has some great ideas for you...Also, not sure if anyone mentioned it, sorry if they did...but I have the oppurtunity to record the ultrasounds on a CD when I go..that could be an option, you could send it to him. Listen, i know its hard being seperated...and I couldnt imagine how alone you feel now he has to leave. Have faith it will work out, take as much leave as the two of you can (save some for after the baby of course!!, lol) Thats one thing about military life I dont care for....you meet people and get into relationships and then those people can leave so easily...and in your case, the only way to stay together is probably to get married u know! Well, I wish you the best of luck with everything.

Re: Dual Military &/or the AD member?
Me too! My husband and I are AD and we are pregnant with our second child. But this pregnancy is the one my husband is here for all the way. Our first one, he was on deployment:( So he missed everything. but I sent pics, I sent videos with my phone of my belly moving...he liked that one the best:) Just keeping your man in the loop all the way to the birth makes him feel like even though he wasn't there physically, he was atleast there with you emotionally:)
