Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
How are you doing? What a shocker, I can imagine! I am not over here much anymore since they moved the March 09 group to the "baby board" now. I will be 46 next month and just had baby #4. It was a very wanted surprise. Being old and having only one tube left me thinking it would never happen. I was shocked to find a BFP but very pleasantly so. Hope you are doing well!

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers

1/2770 downs based on pregnancy
1/140 based on age
I have noticed that I am pretty tired this go around. What about yours?

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
I know exactly what you are going through I have a daughter who is 22years and in college also. My husband I stopped trying 3 years ago and I was a running and going about my own life again. I was on a long bike ride and started feeling sick and went to doctor who then in turn told me to take a pregnacy test. I told her she was crazy and she wasn't I was pregnant..I almost feel off my chair when I took the test, my huband and I are so excited but being this age and knowing my body I have been feeling every ache and pain. I am 15 weeks now but I am so scared of doing anything wrong. I keep getting alot of pressure on my bladder and I feel it all the time is that normal for that to happen, I forgot what it was like so I just don't know what I am supposed to be feeling. I am afraid of bad new, like most others but just want assure myself it's just the baby growing what do you think

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
After reading your post on how you are pg with #4 after a failed tubal ligation... I'm a little nervous now. lol
I am pg with #6. My oldest is 23 and youngest just turned 5. I plan to have a tubal ligation after the birth of this "peanut".
Hubby and I adore each and every one of our children but I am 42 now and have been experiencing some, as of yet undiagnosed, health problems.
You are NOT alone with th eage difference! This old body of mine is just about worn out! rofl

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
I am just part of the 1% failure rate for tubal ligations. It was cut and cauterized but grew back together. Right now everything has turned out fine for Advanced Materanal Age pregnancy and I do not have to go back to the perinatalogist. I was told by my MD that they can grow back together but it usually doesn't happen so quickly, my youngest was 3 1/2 at the time. I just think GOD must be a funny guy.

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
I am 36, will be 37 if I carry to term. I have lots of reproductive issues and after trying for almost 10 years, found out last week that i am pregnant. By my calculations I am about 7 weeks and will be seeing my ob next tuesday to make sure all is well. I am terrified but hopeful that all will be ok. I cant wait to meet our little miracle...

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
Your post made me feel a bit better that someone else had the same concerns. I have a 22 year old son that has given me a 3 yr old granddaugter and on the way as we speak. I also have a 14 yr old starting his first year of high school. So at the age of 40 (41 oct 5th) This was a total surprise. Me and my husband had tried for years and with no results, we quit. I had the youngest with me when I found out and he is totally excited. Needless to say I have some major concerns. I am 11 weeks today, and worried. I know that if I make it to my second trimester It will be more likely that I will deliver, however I seem to be cramping so badly. I have been on bed rest since I found out, I just want to make it through the danger zone. But as long as you (we) do as we are told every thing will be ok.

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
Hi all,
I am 39 and Pregnant (we hope to be able to keep this pregnancy-had 3 miscarriages) I have a 20 yr old Step-daughter, a 16 year old stepson, and a 7 year old who is mine. This is my first biological baby, as my daughter and I became a family through adoption when she was 10 mo old. I will be 40 once the baby is born in May, but I was also the whoops child when I was born, my siblings are 22,20,17,13 years older than me and my mother was 41 and father was 50 when I was born. So I have had both sides and I am so thankful that it wasn't even a question for my parents. We are just hoping to make it past 6 weeks as that has been the point of miscarry for the past pregnancies.
My name is Amy and I am anxious, I want to be excited, but I am scared yet. When we look at what we already have (3 great kids and a great marriage) we are thankful for that, but we also know that the clock is ticking. This time I feel really good and my HCG levels were 750 on Tuesday so I am waiting to hear what they were today which will tell us how things are going.
I think that all of you will do great, you have more experience. Now, there are downsides to having older parents, but in this day and age, we are all aging not as fast. You are as young as you feel. My mother is 80 and this past year she just took a major down turn, but prior to this, she was always the one who acted 20 years younger than she was. She played ball with me and the grandkids (yep, my best friends are my niece who is 6 months younger than me, and my nephews who are 6 months older and 6 years young than me) They were all in my wedding as I was very close to them. My mom and sister made a concerted effort to make sure that I had a normal brother and sister relationship. As I grew older I began to appreciate my older siblings and in our family we don't use formal names like Aunt and Uncle. All of the children that are the little ones now, regardless of how they are related are cousins and the older family members are treated with the respect of an aunt or uncle. My mom will have grandchildren ages 0-40 when mine is born.
I better go for now, Be well all, and please keep us in your prayers
Amy

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
Hi Amy, You are in good company. Try not to focus so much on age since it leads to less than positive thoughts. Focus more on your blessings and that you are enjoying your new pregnancy day by day. I've heard of woman having babies into their high 40's. My doctors neighbor gave birth to a baby at 50 last year. All natural. I've known many woman who have in their 40's. A friend gave birth a few months ago to twins (natural) after years of miscarriages and adopting. I too have had a m/c in the past. It was unexplained since the chromosomes were normal. I may have attributed it to the not so good progesterone. Here I am pregnant again at 6.5 weeks and have normal levels. Just as a precaution, the dr put me on progesterone oil shots. We saw the heartbeat last Wed. As of 2 days ago, my barely any symptoms (queasiness, fatigue, very slight soreness on sides of boobs) have gone away. I too am excited and have fears at time. Is it normal for symptoms to come and go? What caused your m/c's? How far long are you? My due date is in May.

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
Hi Allison and all,
I am not so worried about my age, just getting through each day. We haven't ever found out why I miscarried, but right now I am just happy that my Beta level more than doubled in two days but not quite tripled. (around 2000) I am just happy for any symptoms at this point, but my biggest issue is being tired. So, I just work on my to do list and I rest when I have to and then each day gets us through this scarey time. My appointment is is third week in October, and by then we will be able to hear a heartbeat and I should be 8 weeks along, but I know they won't even do an ultrasound till I am about 12 weeks because they don't want to risk it. So hearing the heartbeat will be enough for me. According to the Dr. my proposed due date is May 26th. So I am going into week 5, I have miscarried in week 5 and 6 in the past.
SO that would mean you are due in the early to mid may dates. Thanks for the encouragement, I will say i enjoy being pregnant every day that I am, and it is a neat feeling to know that there is a little one in me, what a blessing. I
better go, lots on the list today
Goodluck with everyone's pregnancy.
Amy

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
Hello....I am 40 years old and I am 10 weeks pregnant! I had three miscariages and my husband and I decided to adopted three children. Now I am pregnant....I never have made it this far in my pregnancy before! I am quite excited! My husband isnt too happy just yet. He will 44 this month and feels he is too old have a baby! Oh well..... I main concern right now is the spotting that I am having. Is this normal? Have you experience spotting? My doctor tells me that everything looks healthy but after three miscarriages, I just want this one to be successful! I am somewhat scared, worried and nervous! I just pray that I can make it to 30 weeks!

Re: Hello Trying to Reach Out to Older Preggers
Hello! What an amazing story about failed tubal ligation.
My husband and I just found out we are 9 weeks pregnant. I had laparascopic surgery in July and got pregnant naturally in August. I just blows my mind still!
Anyway, we are happy and in awe of this. I am having all the fun hormonal stuff of the 1st trimester (mood swings, crying, nausea, insomnia). But I'm still grateful when I'm not feeling crazy mood swings and nausea. I love what was said about God having a sense of humor. In my book, God seems pretty cool for letting this happen. I really didn't want to go through surgery for no reason, but it seems that my left tube was blocked my whole life, as I've never been pregnant before. The doctor said my right tube never fully formed as I was premature. It is just so cool and so crazy at the same time. I also have PCOS. So you can see what a miracle this is, as I was on no fertility drugs at time of conception. We were taking a month off!!! Sometimes, surgery is worth it!
