    Baby Registry

Hi ladies, when and how did you register while on bedrest. I am 27 weeks and have been hesitant the entire pregnancy about registering. I guess I was afraid something would happen. People are asking about showers too, but I don't think they understand what bedrest really is. I told them if they were going to give one it would have to be here at my home. I don't know. I am really not feelin a shower right now. Maybe at 32 or 34 weeks. How have you guys handled showers? I know it is the least of our worries, but thats a decision that we will have to make sooner or later. Carmen

    Re: Baby Registry

Hi Carmen while i was on bed rest i registered online. I did mine through Target and Babies R Us. I just browsed through most of what they sold and added it to my registry. You just can't go to the store and do it but you can do it online. Let your girlfriends bring the shower to you....I think that would be the best thing.....Yeah i agree that you should wait until then to do the shower....i can understand.......although my little one came early, i told my girlfriends that i would not like to have my shower until mid July.

    Re: Baby Registry

I too was hesitant on registering and talking to family and friends about a shower. I finally came around at about 30 weeks while talking to my mom. I live in NJ but am from CT originally. We are going to have a small shower here at a resturant on June 7th. I will be 35 weeks by then and comfortable about it and actually enjoy myself. We will have a shower in CT after the baby is born...more of a welcome baby celebration. I did go to babies r us with my DH to pick out the major things like a stroller, car seat etc but we were only in there for a short time. The rest I have done online. Carmen, I felt the same way you did but once I took the plung it allowed me to start being exicted about the arrival of my little one instead of terrified. I am so tired of being scared. Now it is time to celebrate how far we've come and pick out all those adorable things. Go for it and like Diyya said, let your frineds bring your shower to you...just ask them to let you know when. I would not be up for a suprise at my house now..especially since I am not exactly looking my best most days :).

    Re: Baby Registry

Thanks you guys for your help. I told myself that at 28 weeks I will go online and start my resgistry. I will get the big stuff once I get off bedrest. I guess that will be in about 4 or 5 weeks. I like Ruth's idea about having a baby shower back home once the baby comes. So, next week here I come Babies R Us and Target! ANy recommendations? I totally do not know anything about baby stuff. I have always given gift cards for showers! Congrats on your milestones this week. Carmen

I had no idea what to register for either. I reached out to some of my friends and asked what are the must haves. Obviously, you need a carseat to bring your little one home in and essentials like a bassinett, onesizes (I was told best not to register for many clothes b/c folks will get you tons), a health kit with a thermometer etc, bottles, receiving blankets, bouncer, washcloths, bathing stuff..etc. I was also told the hospital sends you home with things too like formula. I am hoping to breastfeed but you never know. There is a checklist on babies r us but they list everything imaginable. I'm not sure about you but I don't want to put stuff on there just becasue...that means I will have to return things if I don't end up needing them...and people spend money that is hard to come by these days. Have fun with it...it is time to enjoy this!

I know when I registered at babies r us they have like this checklist that you can use...I think it is called like the "new parents checklist"...you may want to try that!

Haha...can you tell I have preggo brain! I totally misread the entire post! I would totally ask for it to be at my home but, that's just me! I wouldn't want any extra stress put on myself! Good luck!

    Re: Baby Registry

I would have had mine at home, but our house is pretty small. So we're having it close by at someone's house that has plenty of sitting room and very low-key. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow at my shower! I finally feel okay about her coming now! And most registery sites do give you lists. Jusy cover the basics and talk to other mom's about what they couldn't live without! That's your best bet.
