Re: Whats going on with your week?

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a good week.  Just thought I'd share with you...I had an u/s this afternoon for fetal growth and a biophysical profile (BPP) which checks how the baby is doing....breathing, movement, blood flow, embilcal cord etc.  The good news...baby is doing great...the other not as great but ok news is that he/she gained close to a pound and is now about 4lbs 12oz.  It is small for the gestational age so I have to go every week for a BPP and every other week for a growth scan...just when I thought the appointments would wind down.  I am not terribly concerned b/c the baby is doing well and I am not a big person and was a peanut at birth my self at 5.3.  So all in all, I guess a good appointment.  I see my regular ob next week so we'll see what she thinks.  Bottom line is I am 35w today and it is what it is!  Oh...and I went to my office yesterday and they had such a wonderful shower for me...I was absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's kindness.  There were about 30 people there and they had all chipped in and gotten us an excersauscer, clothes and gift cards!  My boss gave the funniest speech.  I am so fortunate to work with such great people.  Have a good afternoon...Ruth Ann

That is good news Ruth. I wouldn't worry about the size of the baby. How he is doing matters the most. I am glad that you had a wonderful shower. I bet it was emotional too. Also congrats on 35 weeks we all look forward to seeing that week! That is all just great news! This 30 weeks for me and my appointment went well. My cervix is still closed...THANK YOU GOD...and I have a growth scan in 2 weeks.Moving along here. Take care. Carmen.

Re: Whats going on with your week?

Ruth, try not to worry so much. You know how much you weighted so that sounds like that baby is more than on track for what you weighted as a baby. But everything else sounds wonderful! I'm so glad you have gotten to 35 weeks already! WOW. And your shower sounds great as well. So nice to have people who actually care about you doing something for your baby. Gotta love it. And congrats Carmen! YEAH! Still closed, that is just wonderful for 30 weeks. I dont have much to tell here. Just that I'm off the meds now. I'm actually doing okay, the baby seems to think that it's great to switch to breech(she's too big for it) and it gives me BH that are kinda painful. But they don't do anything, so at least I know that! I think I may just take myself off complete bedrest and just stay with restricted activity. I know Ruth has probably been wondering why I've been posting about going to one place or an other. I really am not having the contractions that put me on bedrest at all! Yes I have a few, and I mean few. Never even worried about going to the hosptial and have been able to get them to stop in a VERy short ammount of time with water and rest if I have 4 in an hour. And no diatation or anything as my last appointment. But I am measuring a week and a half big. Which is wonderful. I have never measured big before. The boys were exactly where they should have been. Almost makes me wonder if I was wrong about conception, but I was charting so I doubt it highly(and temping). But I'm so glad you are both doing so well and sounds like you are having a great week. Congrats!

Okay I guess I spoke too soon. I'm back on the terb until next weekend now. I have been having contrations all day, which are about all 4mins apart but not really getting any stronger at all. So...I guess I'll just leave it at that. I'll be staying down more too until next weekend as well. I just want to at least make it to 35 weeks, since that's when I feel so much safer! But I'd really like to wait until 36 1/2 to feel perfectly safe. Good luck this weekend!

Oh Angela...I am so sorry to hear that!  I hope they subsided overnight. I'm sure you are terribly disappointed but you are so much closer now.  36 1/2 w is right around the corner.  I saw your other post on the July board and that dr sounds like a real jerk!  Again, I hope you are having a better day today HUGS :).

Thanks Ruthann. And sorry I've been spelling your name wrong too! OOPS! Yeah I'll do something about that dr later. At least since it's kaiser I can call and complain about a dr they have in their company. So I think I will. I think she should have had me come in and given me a shot to stop it quicker. That's what my normal dr would have done. I knew the terb would kick in before anything really happened. It just took forever and they still haven't stopped completely. I just don't feel like I should call again, it's useless unless my normal dr is there. I just hate wasting my time in L&D with out coming home with a baby. I'm sure you understand that one! UGH! But thanks so much for the responce, I do appreciate it.

Re: Whats going on with your week?

Wow, you are all getting so close!  I'm jealous!  I'm hoping for 28 wks right now, I'll re-evaluate when I get there.  My son was 30 wks and he spent 5 wks in the NICU and he's perfectly healthy now.  I'm 20 wks 3 days today, so just 6 wks 4 days until I get to my first milestone.  I've been taking it very easy, especially this weekend while dh is home.

Angela, I hope your contrax go away.  I seem to get more contrax when I need to pee or if I've done too much.  Take it easy!!!

Ruthann, my DD was 37 wks and 5lbs 1 oz, and she went home with me.  Small isn't necessarily bad!  Also, those u/s are +/- 8 oz at the point you are at so I don't consider them very accurate.  Research has shown that they are generally wrong so maybe you're baby is bigger and they are just using averages based on a long leg bone or a fraction of a smaller head.  None of those tests take into account the genetics of the baby.

Carmen, thank you for welcoming me and congrats on reaching another milestone.

    Diyya...hoping your baby stays strong!

Jen, we all have been there so we know what you are going through. 27 weeks will be here before you know it. Waiting is hard, but milestones will come.Keep taking it easy we are here for you. Carmen

Re: Whats going on with your week?

Thanks Jen! They are less but not going away completely anymore and I don't really expect them to anymore.(But I do understand the too much or having to pee, same here!) Just too close to what I think is the end now. BUt I know you can make it! You can do it. Sometimes I break down the waiting into smaller weeks. So I guess I'd be 25 and then 27 if I was you. That's just me though. I try to break it up into 3 or 4 week sections so I feel like I'm doing something sooner. Does that makes sense? It'll come and I hope you get there and you can! This board is awesome if you want to talk or anything. We all seem to check on it a lot.

Re: Whats going on with your week?

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you had a good weekend.  Thanks for all your reassurnace on my little one...no pun intended.  I agree those u/s aren't all that accurate and have surrendered to the fact that they are high risk drs and that is just what they do.  Angela, glad the contrax aren't too, too bad again.  It is a hard call towards the end...but you are almost there!  Your suggestion to Jen about breaking up the weeks worked for me too.  I also found it self rewarding to look back and say to myself...remember when 26 weeks seemed so long ago....it's the little things that get me through.  Hope you all have a great week!

Re: Whats going on with your week?

Nothing going on this week with me. I had myh diabetes appoint yesterday. My sugars are finally creeping up a little causing me to require more insulin. I did gain about 5 lbs it seems in one week. I am not swollen anywhere and not short of breath or anything. Before this visit I gained only about 5 lbs so now I guess it is about 10. Otherwise I am feeling fine. I do get cramps in my inner thigh at night. I have a u/s next week and another cervical check. Hope your weeks are going well. Carmen
