    Progesterone

Well got my results back for the week. They dropped again to 17. FINALLY they are going to give my suppositories. Now we are trying to find a pharmacy that has them since it is a fairly new medicine we will be using. I am just so pissed that we have waited this long. I have been asking for them since they started dropping three weeks ago. I swear if we lose this baby I am going to have some words with everyone involved. Just wondering if anyone on here as had low progesterone and taken supplements. How low did yours go and you still had a healthy baby? Thanks for any advice. I am once again so scared even though we saw a heartbeat yesterday. Thanks ladies.

Kim, I am so glad that you made them keep testing.  I really hope you have gotten the progesterone by now and that it is working.  Praying for you and your bean.

    Re: Progesterone

I hope I can shed some lite on your situation. I also have probelms with progesterone. I lost my first baby at 8 weeks due to low levels that were discovered way too late. With this pregnancy they decied to put me on the hormone the day I found out I was pregnant. They wanted me to do the suppositories like yourself, but unfortunately my insurance company would not cover them and they were mega expensive. So, my dr. found a gel cap that was supposed to be taken orally that was covered by my insurance and since it was a gel cap I was able to take it vaginally like she peferred. I took something called Prometrium, 200mg twice a day. It helped SO much! I only had to take it until I was 12 weeks because by then the placenta has completely taken over and the hormone was no longer needed. I am now almost 27 weeks pregnant with a healthy, growing-like-a-weed little girl! I felt very comforted being on the hormone. It was a reassurance that she was okay and that the chances of me losing her was next to nothing. Although, being a first time mom, I'm naturally nervous anyway! I have to admit I was a little nervous to go off it, but my dr. was really good about continued ultrasounds and dr. appt. to put me at ease. I hope this helps you a little. I wish you the best of luck. I'm on the Nov. 2009 if you would like to drop me a line and let me know how things are going. Or just send me a message! Good luck!

    Re: Progesterone

I just saw your post while I was looking for the same information. I am a memeber of April 2010 and I got a phone call from my dr. this morning that my

progesterone levels were very low. She found a pharmacy here that had the vaginal suppositories and I have to take them 2x a day. I just started tonight. CVS had to order the oral capsules that the dr. originally wanted me to use vaginally  so she called it in to a smaller pharmacy and they had the vaginal ones on hand. I am very nervous about this whole thing. This is baby #4 for me and I have never had any problem like this. I am going to be 7 weeks so I hope it is not too late...

I was very happy to read the above post and see your baby is doing great at 27 weeks. It eases my mind a bit..congrats and thanks for the info..

    Re: Progesterone

I have been on twice daily suppositories. I have been taking them since I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks. I am almost seven weeks, and my doc is going to keep me on them until he sees the heartbeat. I have nothing to offer except support and hopes that this works for all of us! Also... things are a bit messy, but my doc didn't say it was ok to sleep with dh... did you get the ok on that? Sorry if tmi!

    Re: Progesterone

Thanks everyone for their input. I hope it works for all of us too. Mine went from 17 to 42 a week later. I had a doctors appt. on the 25th. It had dropped to 33 but I am not sure if it was because my morning pill hadn't taken effect yet. Doctor said it wouldn't have gone up like that if it hadn't of worked. So we are still praying our baby stays with us. I will get my levels checked next week. That will tell us a lot. Then I got for a NT scan on Sept. 8th. I am so nervous.

    Re: Progesterone

kimcosmo2000, hello. I'm sorry you're having low progesterone levels but also glad you posted about this. I'm right there with you right now. I'm not sure how far along you are. I'm 7 weeks... due April 25th. This is my 7th pregnancy and hopefully my 3rd child. I lost my first pregnancy at 12wk and 2nd at 4.5wk back in 2005. Then, gave birth to my first daughter in Oct 2006. Shortly after my cycle returned, I became pregnant but m/c at 5.5wk and again at 6.6wk in 2007. I never had any first trimester monitoring with any of my first 5 pregnancies. So, I switched doctors and quickly became pregnant with my 2nd daughter born Aug 2008. I was monitored closely during my pregnancy with her. My progesterone levels rose in the first couple of weeks but then around 6-6.5 weeks they fell to 12. My new Dr was concerned but wanted to "watch it". Luckily for me, it rose again with more blood work and I was never put on any progesterone. I hope this is some reassurance that my levels fell so low and the pregnancy went on and brought me my wonderful baby girl. Now, my concern this time is that we monitored the progesterone again and AGAIN it fell... this time it fell to 10. On redraw, it was 11. This really worried me and I requested progesterone suppositories. They agreed and I started them at 6 weeks... so, it's just been a week. I had an u/s last Tues which showed my baby measure to dates and with a good heartbeat :) I have another u/s tomorrow to show that he/she is continuing to grow appropriately. I'm trying not to worry myself but how can't I be? I know you know. I hope you get good news tomorrow... well, I hope we both do :). And, I look forward to seeing an update. Best wishes! Briana

    Re: Progesterone

Hi Briana-just wondering how everything is going for you? I had my NT scan on Tuesday. Baby was a little jumping monkey in there. Heartbeat was great at 184. Everything looked great. Doctor gave us a 3% chance of another m/c at this point. My progesterone rose to 54 last week. So my OB said I can stop it at 12 weeks which will be this Saturday. I think I may refill it one more time and wean myself off. Hope to hear from you soon and I hope you and your baby are doing well.

    Re: Progesterone

My u/s was great. I measured 2 days ahead... 7w4d and was actually 7w2d by LMP. HB was 148 which they said was good. Everything looked good. They retested my progesterone for fun but I haven't called for that number yet. I figure no news is good news since they didn't call me yet :) I'm so glad yours went well too! Congratulations! You're almost in the 2nd trimester... that'll be a relief. Just relax and trust that you won't need those suppositories anymore. Probably easier said than done... I'll find out soon. Congrats again :) Briana

    Re: Progesterone

Update: Well, I just had another ultrasound at 9w2d. The baby measured 4 days ahead this time but no longer had a heartbeat :( It must have just happened. I was still taking my baby aspirin and progesterone suppositories. I have no signs of m/c yet and have a f/u appt next week to discuss my options. I don't think this is a result of my progesterone being low before I started the suppositories. I think that when the placenta took over, it just wasn't a viable pregnancy. This is my 5th loss. Good luck to you as I'm sure you're just about at the second trimester now. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is happy and uneventful.
