How long did you wait to spread the good news?

Some of my friends say they told all of their friends and family right away and others say they waited a little while. As much as I love sharing good news with my family, I'm not really sure what to do. I was listening to a podcast from peainthepodcast.com that brought up this issue. I clicked on it because it was called "Week 6: First Prenatal Appointment" but it developed into a discussion about when to tell people about the pregnancy. Definitely brought up some important points, and got me thinking. Anyway, thought I'd raise the question here. Check out the podcast and let me know your thoughts - What did you and your partner decide to do?

With my first pregnancy, we told everyone right away.  We had been trying for 9 months to get pregnant and were ecstatic once we found out.  I ended up miscarrying 3 weeks after we told everyone.  It was very difficult to tell everyone that we lost the baby.

When I got pregnant after the miscarriage, we waited until the end of the 1st trimester until we broke the news.  Same with my 3rd pregnancy.  We waited until I had my first u/s at 11 weeks before we broke the news.  I did tell my employer earlier though.  I felt they deserved to know and also since I had history of miscarriage, I thought it was fair to let them know in case it happened again and I needed time off.

We told our parents at 8 weeks, and everyone else at 13 weeks (work, friends, etc) GL.

We waited with this pregnancy because I had a m/c a few months before and we had told everyone. So that made it even harder to have to tell everyone we lost the baby:( Since I had a m/c I had 2 early u/s and after everything looked ok we told poeple which was about 9 weeks. Good Luck!!

With Ellie-Marie, we waited about eight weeks, but with number 2, we're going to wait until my first prenatal appointment which isn't until October 19th, so that will be 11 weeks!!!!!

Oh dear I am 16 weeks and I still haven't told anyone except my husband I guess I just don't like all the attention it was exhausting during my first pregnancy ... So I'm holding off until I start to show which will be soon and now I'm kind of worried my family will be upset because I've waited so long ... I just can't seem to find the right time or way to tell them
