    Protein C deficency

Recently my blood work came in that indicates I have protein C deficiency. The doctor is telling us there is nothing to worry about, we will watch it, and when we went online~ not good! I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant for my third baby. My son is now 16 and my daughter, though she died at age 5, would have been 14. thank you!

    Re: Protein C deficency

I recently was diagnosed with a Protein C Deficiency. I have 3 children and just went through 2 miscarriages. The doctor ran some blood test after the last one and the protein c deficiency came up. I went to see a Hematologist and was put on a low dose aspirin once a day to help prevent blood clots from forming. This was probably the reason for my miscarriages. Also, you usually start having problems in your 30's or later. I had my 3 kids with no problems and my last one when I was 31. I will probably need to continue the baby aspirin and then be on heparin injections once I become pregnant. With this Protein C deficiency you are more prone to developing blood clots and sometimes they can be very serious. Also, the hematologist advised me to tell my parents and siblings to be tested as well. Hope this helps you and you are doing well.
