After you got off birthcontrol, how long did it take?

Reply Contact I am just wondering after you got off birthcontrol how long did it take for you to get pregnant? I have only been off a month, and either I am pregnant, or going to have a hard period. My depo ended in March and I got pregnant in November. I had a really hard period during the time i was trying to get pregnant. Hopefully you are pregnant but it could just be your body readjusting.

I was on the pill for 15 years and went off it October last year. So it only took a few months for me. Your body has to find it's natural cycle again before actually being able to concieve. For me I thought it was quite quick. My best friend was on the pill for 7 years and when she went off it, it took almost 12 months for her to fall pregnant. It may mean that you might have to suffer through pretty nasty periods until you fall pregnant. One bit of comfort (if you could call it that) is that my doctor told me that if I had pain when I had my period it meant that I was ovulating well.

The first time was after using the ring for 9mos and the second was after using Yaz for 11mos.  The thing for me is that I have to stay on BC or try right away when I get off due to terrible ovairian cyst.

Reply Contact i was on my birth control for 6 years, stopped taking it in september, never had a period and conceived in novemeber, so it only took 2 months for me.which i was vry happy and surprised about.

I had ended it in Sept '04 to get my body ready for when we were ready to try... we knew it would be soon. We sorta tried in Jan and Feb '05 and became pregnant when we really tried in March '05. So, 3mos of kinda trying but was off birthcontrol for 6 mos. I don't plan to ever go back on birth control... hoping for lots of children and then DH to get a vasectomy :)

Reply Contact When I went off Yasmine in Dec 05 and got pg 3 months later with my son. When I was trying I felt awful and like my period was starting when I found out I was pg. It is really annoying how simular period symptoms can be to pregnancy symptons. Good luck

Reply Contact I was on the patch for a year, went off it in January and tested positive in June. I was on the mini pill for 18 mos and did not have to go off it to get pregnant.

Reply Contact the last 2 times I've gotten pregnant, it was 2 weeks after I got off BC, the first time was after using the ring for 9months (when my second child was only 9months old in Dec. '05) and the second was after being on Yaz for 11mos. finished pills 1/9/08, BFP on 2/7/08.  I really think it has to do with how many pregnancies you've already had (because you are usually more fertile)  and your body in general.  I had to be on BC to prevent ovarian cyst and had to try as soon as I finished BC before a cyst had a chance to appear.

Reply Contact I was on Orthotricyclen (sp?) for almost 4 years, got off, and it took me about a year and a half to get pregnant. But it also messed my hormones up really bad and it took a long time for my body to seem to readjust. I'd go 3 months without a period, then get one that would last a month before I got pregnant.
