So we just found out yesterday we are having twins, WOW. Not only is it our first and I am 38 we are having two. Needless to say my husband was quite speechless for pretty much the whole day. Any one else out there ever had twins?

Re: Who is out there over 35?

Wow! I am so excited to see so many of us here. We have a group now, Yeyy! I am 37 and just found out last week that I am do July 29th and I was and stil am in shock. I was completely not trying or expecting to have a baby at all. Believe it or not, I have 7 children already and yes they are all mine, no adoptions or anything. I got pregnant at the age of 17 and my husband and I did get married at 18 and we both had wanted large family and we sure got one. The sad thing is that my husband and I divorced 3 years ago and I have been in arelationship with the same guy for two years and I just found this out and told him and he doent want me to have the baby. I feel so alone and down. I of course am going to have this baby, I just wish there was a way to get him to feel the same way as I do about it. But I am happy that I have found this site and all of you!

K3092279, (I am sorry I do not know your name!) Congratulations on your 3rd pregnancy!! How exciting. I will be 38 when my 3rd boy is born. I am due May 8th but the other 2 boys came a few weeks early. I do not know what NTD stands for. I am really sorry that you lost her. I have had 3 miscarriages no of which went full term. I know how painful losing a baby can be. Leslie

Christy- I need to look up what the exact name of the test they gave me. (I know I sound like a bimbo not remembering!! But it was like 4 weeks ago!!) They gave me a blood test and an in depth ultra sound at the perinatal office. The doctor could tell at 13 weeks from the ultra sound that he was a boy. However, if he were a girl they may not have detected that so soon. The test screened me for downs syndrome and trysomy defects. I have had 3 miscarriages, so they consider me to be high risk. I also have 2 healthy boys so sometimes the dna connects correctly and sometimes it does not with me. So far, all of these tests have gone really, really well. That is a refreshing change from my back-to-back miscarriages I had last year. This test was neither the amnio or the cvs. It has no risk of causing miscarriage since it only involves u/s and blood test from my finger. From this test they decide who they reccommend the amnio or cvs to.

I am a 38 year old Grandmother and have three current children ranging from 21-13! My fiance and I are now expexting the 4th baby - It's a boy! I'm still a little mixed on feelings as this pregnancy was purely unexpected. You see, my fiance who's a chief in the Coast Guard has told my docs that him that he could no longer produce....WE NEEDED A 2ND OPINION!

Wow, Diane! How fun to have twins!!! I always thought that would be a blast. I bet your husband was speechless! I know mine would be. They are always looking at things in terms of dollars and responsibility. That is why they are husbands!! Do twins run in your family?

Dawn, we will try to keep you company while you are on bedrest! You have probably already done this, but go on Amazon and order a bunch of pregnancy books. My favorite one is no longer in stores but it is at Amazon. It is called Rock Star Momma. It gives you all kinds of tips from makeup to hormones. It is more like you are talking to a friend who has been through pregnancy rather than a physician. It is sort of an updated version of The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy.

Sandra, I think that you are awesome for having your baby. I am sure some of your kids are nearly grown, so you can get them to help you. I know lots of cases where the boyfriend said he did not want the baby, but when it actually came down to it, the baby was the best thing that ever happened to him. My dad had a "shot gun wedding" when I was 20! He was 50! But 17 years later, he is still obsessed with his youngest...(4th) daughter!! Either way, it will work out. It may not be the way you think you want it, but lots of blessings are in disguise.

Re: Who is out there over 35?

Babybearaustin, I think that is fabulous you are a pregnant grandma!! And you are only 38 so you are a REALLY young grandma any way!! You should have made your sign on name "pregnant grandma!!" :) I have a friend whose husband had a vasectomy and his were "still swimming." He didn't go in for the follow up appointment to check for swimmers. She was pretty shocked with her news. Sometimes the idea of pregnancy takes some getting used to, but isn't it also so amazing and miraculous? I had 2 miscarriages back to back last year, so when I found out my news...( I was on birth control!! ) I cried for 2 weeks. I thought I was just waiting for another miscarriage. But this one stuck! He made it through birth control, botox, the tanning bed... all of these things I was doing before I knew I was pregnant!!! When it is right , it is just right, ya know?!

Thanks for the info Leslie. Yeah it would be good to know the name of that finger *** screening you had but if you can't find out no worries. I heard something about a blood screening called Quad, does that sound like it? So sorry to hear about your previous m/cs but it sounds like this one is going well, so glad. Another boy too, how great. Christy

Re: Who is out there over 35?

I just found this site and was happy to find some others over 35! I'm 38 - we would have had our first last year but miscarried at 15 weeks. After a few months of fertility treatments, I'm now pregnant (only approx. 5 weeks), but nervous about this time around. So I thought I'd try to find a group that might discuss some different issues than the "normal" pregnancies - e.g., since we're over 35 & "high risk"... Valerie

Re: Who is out there over 35?

Hi Val! I am also 38...to be 39 in January. Due with my 4th baby on June 1, 2009!! So far this pregnancy has been tricky. Medically speaking, I'm great! Baby is great! I feel like crap! So tired....and I get stressed out so easily. I don't know if these are "over 35 issues" or not, but I'm hoping they get better soon. How are you feeling? I'm thinking that if I keep a positive attitude, things can only get better! Check out www.cafemom.com too. Neat site to join and get others support and insight! I love it there! Good luck to you, and talk to you again sometime!
