    Pregnant again after C-Section

I am 29 wks and my scar from my first child is starting to hurt. it feels like a burning stabbing pain. Is this normal and is there anything I can do to help make it so it dont hurt as much?

I think its probably normal, because the stretching of that scar tissue can be painful. Its not the uterus stretching, that you're feeling, probably. I'm guessing its the skin and any trauma that occurred to the muscle tissue in that region during the section. I'd recommend a belly support belt, if you can get one. Motherhood Maternity sells them, for sure, but you can get them online. You might be able to get one covered by insurance if your provider can prescribe it. Otherwise, I'd give the physician a call to see if there is anything (other than oral pain meds, of course) that they can do for you.

However, I'd check with your practitioner just to be sure, because if the pain is really localized to one area of the scar, there might be a retained nylon suture or something in there that is causing the pain. You just don't want to be miserable, I'm sure!

    Re: Pregnant again after C-Section

Hey there. I am now 37 weeks with my 2nd baby. I had a C-section first time around, and yes the scar does hurt for a while. My DS is now about 2 and a half and I think the longer it is between pregnancies, the less it hurts but yeah I remember I felt like I had a little evil elf in there who kept stabbing me in the side. I used a warm washrag to help relax the muscles for about 20 minutes a day and it seemed to help. I would def double check with your OB/midwife, but in my case, it was totally normal and it does ease up after a bit. Good luck momma!
