    CJ3 (skin tags)

I saw your post on another thread about skin tags...

My Mom had a bunch of them on her neck and upper body. When I was probably 16 she asked me to take thread and tie them all off really tight. We had to re-tie them once or twice but within a week or so they all fell off and have never grown back..... and it has been 10+ years now.....

Just thought I would tell you, since you mentioned doing that in your post :)

i've had many skin tags since pregnancy with my son and more this pregnancy.  what do you mean by tie them off?  like literally tie a knot around the skin tag, leaving the string there until it dries up?

I got them on my inner thighs with my last pregnancy... Yes, tie them off with a piece of sewing thread, and leave it there. It will fall off, if it doesn't, take the thread off and re-tie it after a couple of days.

Thanks everyone...and yes I meant with actual sewing thread. I'm thinking one at a time since pregnancy is already uncomfortable as it is... LOL Imagine me going into labor with all kinds of thread hanging all over my body. LOL

Thanks again!!! It's so annoying how I get more with each pregnancy.

They are little pieces of skin that hang by a tiny thread of skin. I think that's the best way to describe them? It's hard to explain besides it being a piece of excess skin that hangs. LOL The link that was posted will give you an  idea!

same here! silly questions but does it hurt to tie a string around it?  how tight do you tie it and why does it fall off (i.e. because it dries up like the baby's belly button does after birth and fall off?)

I have had skin tags with each of my pregancies. My doctor tells me not to do anything with them while you are pregant since you have extra blood and you bleed more. He always has me wait till the 6 week check up and cuts them all off. I have him numb them. My insurance must cover it because i only get charged my copay. You girls are brave to be tying strings on you. That is too scary for me.

According to my Mom it doesn't hurt at all... and just try to get thread similar in colour to your skin... you couldn't even see the thread when we did it with my Mom....

Which doctor do you go to for the removal(the dermatologist? regular dr?)? Yes, I tried the string thing the other day and it hurt, so I'm thinking of waiting till afterwards, besides I'm sure more will pop up after having the baby. Plus the one I tried tying was the largest one that I have and it's on the bra line, so it kept loosening throughout the day. lol
